    Default The Fighter

    The fighter's eyes are clear
    And he wears a smile
    As he meets the day
And nods at friends along the way

    He walks straight with pride
    Just like everyone said;
    He'd be fine ...
He'd be just fine, in time

I love only you, she'd cried
And the stars seemed so bright...

    But now his vision blurs
    As pangs of memory
    Make his thoughts go dark
And hit him square in the heart

The last fight put him under
    Thought he'd never see again
He crawled out to the street
And lay in the cold cold rain

I love only you, she cried...

    But now his vision blurs
    As the painful memories
    Make his thoughts turn dark
And kick him in his heart

    Remembering bright blue sky...
    And two dark closets
    With doors open wide
And the unused broom just inside

    And his legs grow weak
    As he crumbles inside
    From the 10-ton weight
The cold dead weight of his fate

I love only you, she'd cried
And the moon seemed so bright...

    But his vision blurs
    As the painful memories
    Make his thoughts go dark
And punch him straight in the heart

He wanted so much to believe
    But too many black holes
    Little lies were a disease
    That still eats his soul

    And his eyes close
    As unbearable visions
    Make his thoughts go dark
And punch him straight in the heart

    And his eyes close
    And his eyes close

So does this one make the point, or anything even close? Yes/no?

Thanks!!! It's always great to get positive feedback from such obviously talented writers as yourself. This is another one that I really want to set to music, if I can ever get the right equipment again. Times are so hard right now

*tear* it's so deep...plain beautiful. it does certainly make a point.

Eams, thanks a bunch for "feeling" it like that ... and well let's just say, theoretically speaking, she didn't necessarily cheat but she left too many shadows and too many doors open and didn't seem to care (the unused broom) and it just threw doubt and confusion all over the place, and all of that caused serious problems that ended it. How's that for an explanation/revelation?

Thanks so much Angel, and yeah those lines, holding himself up on the outside like everyone expects, but that's not at all what's happening on the inside.

Thanks again all of you for commenting and for the encouragement

    I'm astonished, this is excellent!

"I love only you, she cried..."

    My favourite part.

Wow - this is really powerful...I would really like to hear it with music. What kind of music do you write? What genre?

Thanx very much Zakynthos and Jenna. As for your question Jenna, most often I feel or write a lyric as either Rock, Power Metal, Deep House or occasionally Trance. But this one was written as a country/folk ballad. That list of choices may sound strange coming from one person, but today I posted something in the "How's your mood? Told thru music" thread that should explain where I'm coming from....2 great versions of the same song:

I just love good music, no matter what mold it fits into.
