I'm still amazed at the level of interest people outside Israel show in our music.

LOL! Well, you know I really like Daklon, and I think I came across this song on a list for Israeli folk dancers ("rikudei am"). I don't dance myself, but I check in every now and then because they often mention good Israeli songs which have been choreographed as Israeli "folk dances". Anyway, when I heard this song, the rhytm reminded me so much of the Pontic songs I've heard at family gatherings and weddings (my "hubby" is Pontic Greek). I'm not a 100% sure, but I think the particular rhytm/dance is called "omal" and it's an easy dance-even I can dance it!

[RA760SLAYEA]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RA760SLAYEA&feature=related

And more spontaneous dancing from a family occasion:

[nEebBtvWDGs]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEebBtvWDGs

Anyway, I sent the Ehud Banai clip to a Greek cyberfriend who is very knowledgeable and he gave me the name of the song that Kazantzidis (who is also Black Sea Greek) recorded with the iconic Pontic singer Chrysanthos. This is all O.T. of course, so please bear with me!

To get back to Israeli music, here is a video with some Asian folk dancers dancing to "Nitzots Ha'ahava". Talk about Pontic-Israeli culture reaching all corners of the world!!!

I always thought Hebrew, being a lauguage spoken in just ONE country, is the least communicative language.
You're right but that's a great example for different tastes. Personally, I really like your language, it's a pleasure to hear it and beyond that you make wonderful music so... why not?!

Hi again,

Here is another Israeli-Greek song, hope you don't mind! It is such a BEAUTIFUL song, and I really like Yehuda Saleas (who usually sings in Greek) and Etty Levi (Zehava Ben's twin sister, I think). It shows how well Greek melodies go with Hebrew lyrics and singing. I have to agree with Pattmoira and Steve that Hebrew sounds just lovely to my ears!

The Greek original with Paschalis Terzis and Marina Manolakou-it will take you to the Aegean! Marina sings in Turkish-the lyrics are available in the video:
