    Guys, I'm awfully sorry!

I totally forgot about Pesach Festivities.

But since they're still ON I would like to wish you all the best in the hope you've been enjoying this very important holidays!

    Batellim,

I do hope your wonderful boys joined you for the celebrations and all of you enjoyed yourselves.
All the best to you all!

PS. Batel, did you know the Turks also have a month called Nisan??? It's their equivalent of April.

Don't worry about it Paul...we're having a blast here....the boys managed to come the next day...so we had a second celebration .
I didn't know that about the Turks...that's an interesting piece of information....I wonder whether there are more similiriaties....
    How have you been?
    Are you back on track?

Good news, then! There's never too much celebration in such happy instances, is it?

Well, I'm sort of back on track (I even managed to participate in the Easter/Spring cleaning LOL, which says it all, I guess) but I'm awfully slow, slow, slow these days ... I hate it!

I'm looking forward to this year's holidays already, I just can't spoil it again like I did last year!!! And I'm already dreaming of visiting places of interest and music/DVD shops in the hope to purchase and come back home with 20tons of Turkish culture with me

As regards similarities between the Turkish and Hebrew languages, well, I suppose there might be more of them, especially words that came from Hebrew via Arabic. I will try to discover more 'cos I'm interested in it myself. I also wonder to what extent has Ladino influenced Turkish. A nice word migration concerns the Turkish word palavracı (read: palavradji; meaning: "chatterbox, ranter, boaster"), that must have definitely come from XVth century Sephardic Ladino!

    Şalom!

    Hey Paul....
You mentioned the word Palavra...it is used in low register to suggest that a person is boasting .....you may find it in phrases like "Chalas with all the Palavra" which means stop all this big talk..... The only thing I know about Ladino is the few songs I heard at Dalaras show and a musical I saw in theater ages ago ....it's called Bustan Sefaradi ...Sefaradi Orchard.....
My Spanish is much better... I picked it while watching telenovelas.....I used to do that a few years ago.....I get a chance to examine what's left of that knowledge while observing Yoni studying it (probably getting ready for the big trip to South America....almost every youngster in Israel go on a big trip after army service)
There is no need to hurry back to routine....take your time and listen to your body ....I believe that our body is much more intelligent than our mind...after all it's been here millions of years ....the mind is a baby by comparison and not a very good one if you check its actions and outcomes in the last century....
I met my friends for dinner and a movie tonight (hunger games) and told them about the Turks' Nisan.....I looked very smart in their eyes I did tell them it was you who shared the info with me.
    .................................................. .........Be good and patient

Eyal Golan already did it with the song Pia Esy of Nikos Vertis ...this turned to be ZE ANI
and if you ask me ....outside some studios in Greece there are sleeping bags in which you may find Eyal Golan....Itzik Kala (who steals from Notis Sfakianakis) and of course the couple that had turned it to a formula ....Oren Chen and Stalos who take from E V E R Y O N E ...............
I hope to to God they pay royalties............
Either way .........I have yet to hear one Israeli who can top the Greek performances.............They simply can't....the Greeks do it the B E S T !!!!

The only thing I take credit for (partially) is Yiannis coming to Israel for the first time in September............I did drive him crazy in my 3 visits and 7 shows.........each one ended in a meeting and pleading for his arrival........I talked to everyone ...his brother, his niece, his cousin ..........and of course to his royal amazingness
Here in Israel I helped with creating a buzz around his music....did an interview on the radio ...opened a facebook page and talked to all radio dj's who play Greek music...........and I pass them the breaking news ........for example this winter Yiannis will sing with Mitropanos in Kentro Athina ....I have some Israelis wishing the summer will be over
