I don't recognize the song or group. Some lyrics I believe I hear are:

Slow down, slow down. (several times)
I was walkin' 'round ?her outside, tryin' to find a way to get in.
But I soon found it's hopeless, ?our thoughts went everywhere, oh baby,
You ?make me ?sad. (several times)

    Thank you, simnia
Are you absolutely sure about "Slow down, slow down" ?

I just posted it on youtube, hopefully someone can recognize it. And I apologize for the delay. My Grandma passed away Thursday and it's been pretty hectic on all of us.

I understand: "You were in sight"
Well, that country info (Finland)---in case it's correct---will be invaluable for sure!
(Remember, Finland is not that big )

HOWEVER, despite the country's moderate territorial size, we should NOT shoot too quick...

My first shot eventually proved wrong, but I'm going to post it anyway to prevent you from running into traps when searching around:

    *NOT'* --- Ducktails - "Slow Down" (1979/80) --- *NOT*

...COULD have been it. Finnish group, rock genre. Fine. But for one the length does not match (2:16); plus, I found another information source that told me this song is a cover version of "Slow Down" by Jack Earls (1956).
Time for the second shot I guess ...

Hope this is not too far off from reality...

    ** TENTATIVE **
I hitched a ride up to the city
I was going to the race track
    But i was kinda late
You were waiting for me inside

I knew that... - You were inside. (3X)

Finally i got to the race track
(fought) to (??) a ticket, but (no!?)
Man said the tickets were sold out
I didn't know what to do

I knew that... - You were inside. (3X)

    *************************************
    (outside of myself)?
    Got to get inside
Promised you to meet at the track
    But found it sold out

    Sold out ! Sold out ! (3x)
    ********************************* (2x)

I was walking around a long time
Trying to find a way to get in
But i soon found it hopeless
    (...oles)? were e-ve-ry-where

Oh baby ! You were (in mind) (2X)

Going out of my mind ! You were (in mind) (2X)

Actually, I would say that it looks pretty good Blue. Very nice job especially considering the recording. I can try to search more regarding "Sold out".

Yes, I second that, BlueNileFan. I would NEVER have been able to make out "Sold Out" from that. You've made the whole lyrics get logical first time - whoa!

(fought) to (??) a ticket, but (no!?)
walked up to the ticket vendor
    ?

But i soon found it hopeless
    (...oles)? were e-ve-ry-where
    could be
    "town servants were everywhere"
(maybe a humorous expression to mean "guards", "security personnel")

Hey everyone great news, I went to a Finland Forum, posted it and it was solved. There was even a comment on my youtube post.

The Ronski Gang - Sold Out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9c0djzAQpQ

Also, have to give credit to simnia, pianoman, and especially BlueNileFan. The first two helped, but Blue provided that key clue that enabled it to be solved not long after.
