Help me find an oldie

Hello,
I have an oldie recorded from a cassette, which I can't find anywhere.
The title is probably "Sing a song", but I don't know the artist.

I don't recognize it at all. You might want to put the lyrics here, to help people quickly decide if they've heard it, and to mention it has a male vocalist. It also has a strong eastern influence, with an instrument like a balalaika and strange modal chord progression, something like "Those Were the Days" (Mary Hopkin, 1968) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ulI-T0YxAw). It sounds very '60s to me.

If you listen to Chris McClure the voice is very similar.
