Funny music video - Seventies cop theme

I am trying to identiy the song/artist. I caught the video on late night MTV and enjoyed the music but almost cried with laughter at the video. Its set in the 70's, two cops are parters/best friends. It is clear that they have feelings for each other that conflict with their macho era and careers. The story is told in a very amusing way where every now and then they have awkward and emotional moments. Very funny, if anyone knows what this is please let me know. Thanks.

Thank you for the (very quick) response, it was close, but not the one I am looking for. The genre is correct even the wigs etc. but the video I watched recently had this underlying attraction between them, which makes for some very funny material through the story.

I'm not sure what you're describing: if it's a recent music video, how/why does it have clips from a '70s cops show? Anyway, your description reminds me of this '70s song, even though I doubt it's what you're talking about:
