My dearest teacher, it wasn't a stupid question at all. And to be honest: I don't understand one single word when Austrians don't speak standard German (with slight "Austrian" accent). However - to be even more honest - it's the same with any other German dialects, including those of my own region

My mother, Milka, told me, that the dialects in the neighbouring villages of her own village differed from her own and seemed to be quite "ugly" for her as little child. And then she added, actually even in the neighboring houses of her very very small own village they used some words that differed from those of her family and she found them "not nice".

Nothing can be devided so easyly like neighbours..
