Finns always say that it's like "winning in the lottery" ("lottovoitto" in Finnish) to born in Finland, because Finland is so safe and good place to live. Healthcare, schools and universities are all free in Finland. Also many Finns recognize the good things here 'cause they have been to other countries which are much poorer than Finland.

Actually Finland is not violent or dangerous country at all. In most cases you can get your lost wallet from the nearby police station with all money and cards in there. Unfortunately there had been two school shootings and one shopping mall shooting in a small amount of time (just before that song) and many people in Finland overreacted about that because Finland is used to be a safe country where no one shoots anyone and there are no riots or anything like that.

Finland has within European standards partly a very good reputation indeed. But when it comes to violence
within families, drunkenness causing lots of unnecessary violence and vandalism Finland has a poor name indeed.
As usual, there's both good and bad, I inspite of all love to live here.

Brilliant - I've been looking for an English translation of "Lottovoitto" for ages. Was beginning to half-consider trying to teach myself Finnish...
