    "Why"

    Knew this girl named Carmella
Abandoned by her fella, left her pregnant with a kid while he was in the slamma
Family didn't understand her, turned her away when she came callin' for a hand-a
Or rather for a handout, met a dude said he'd save her but he used to smoke crack
When he smoked he would beat her, leave her bruised and black
Almost lost her daughter, beside this was the fact
She said it's so damn hard to manage, when you're broke and plus you're black
And the establishment is wack, no healthcare and she got a bad back
Her boyfriend left with her car then he never came back
So she looked me and axed -
How can I keep up, why even try survivin'
When every damn day I die a lil more inside and
It's so hard to feed my daughter, I'm wonderin' if I'll be alright man

    Look
I used to have this homeboy, named Paul Barren
Everywhere he went people always starin'
Cuz his face was messed up over a damn misunderstandin'
Some dudes hit his face with acid over some money that was missin
His brother owed some dealers dope but fleein' was his mission
So they hit his family hard, and Paul was the recipien'
When Paul never even did drugs, s*** was so unfair and
He said how'm I s'posed to meet a girl when I look like a monster
Why wake up in the mornin', hell why even bother
Every day a little longer, hard to keep a friend so he started hittin' the bottle
Wallow in his misery, the alcohol he'd swallow
Missin back when he had a normal life, present's just too hard to swallow
Wish'd he was gone for good wish he'd just die
I don't know why, because he was such a humble guy
Mixed with bad company, so he got a tough ride

    Met a man named Steven
Problem with Steven is he could never break even
Family relied on him so he had to turn to thievin'
But one bad night real late in the evenin', he was casin' a house up on a hill
Inside was a thug, the real f***in' deal, who wouldn't blink to kill, someone from whom from him would try to steal
Steven broke in through the front, his homie broke in through the side
He heard the sound of a gunshot, his homie had to die
Steven tried to run, but too slow to survive, too bad he wasn't fast
Next thing he felt was a bullet in his back
Could not recover from the whole blast
But the first shot got the cops stopped so they post up then and there
Steven started cryin sayin s*** ain't fair
Had to steal money see he couldn't get a job
He was missin papers, on top of that he'd been robbed
Now he's sittin in prison, half paralyzed
Rolls around in a wheelchair, tears in his eyes
Wonderin' if life is even worth it or if he'd rather die
And when his moms comes to visit he just asks his mom why

Why do bad things happen, why does life bring us down
When we don't ask for much, it still beats us to the ground
Why is s*** so unfair, why do people have to die
How come no one has the answers, when we ask why
So please count your blessins, if your blessins are there
We ask god for answers, wonder if he care
We look to the sky, wonder if he there
But keep our faith and keep movin, even when it's unfair
So homie if you ask me, how come evil's there
I'mma offer you my condolences homie evil's everywhere
