    Her eyes tell me her smiles a lie;
    In them I see a plea for help.
    She tries to hide behind a laugh
    but, I see through her disguise.

    The outside is an inside joke;
    and she keeps it to herself.
    Each laugh is a thousand tears,
    that on the inside pour like rain.

    Her soul sings

    I'm not content
    with simply existing.
    I wanna live
    and not settle on dreams.
    No I'm not content
    with simply existing.
    I wanna know
    what life really means.

    I have the urge to let her know
    I know just how she feels;
    All alone in a crowded room
    and a cacophony of thoughts.

    But silence wins the day again;
    There's no weight in this strangers words.
    My own disguise would blind her
    to just how alike we are.

    My soul sings

    I'm not content
    with simply existing.
    I wanna live
    and not settle on dreams
    No I'm not content
    with simply existing.
    I wanna know
    what life really means.

    Underneath the facade displayed,
    In the depths of our injured souls;
    We long for answers to the questions
    our imposters never ask.

    I'm not content
    with simply existing.
    I wanna live
    and not settle on dreams.
    No I'm not content
    with simply existing.
    I wanna know
    what life really means.

    Wow, great job; these lyrics are really deep. I think this song means that you, as the title implies, are not content with the life that you have right now. If I'm right, then I can relate to this very well; a song I wrote has a similar message. I especially like the verse:

    "The outside is an inside joke;
    and she keeps it to herself.
    Each laugh is a thousand tears,
    that on the inside pour like rain."

    Although I'm a little confused as to who this "her" is. Is this an arbitrary "her" or does this person mean something to you?

    Thanks for your comment Soapy, I appreciate it. I was at a party and scanning the room when I saw this girl smile when someone talked to her, but the minute the person turned to leave, I saw her smile immediately fade and a she suddenly looked sad and I thought to myself she was trying to hide what was really going on with her. I went home and this song came out.

    You're welcome. Wow, telling me that made me realize just how similar this is to my song "Beneath the Façade," which I think would apply to this girl. Except this is from a pretty unique form of inspiration. Did you actually know or talk to this girl? Because there is so much passion and emotion in this song that I find it out to believe that the circumstances weren't personal.

    I didn't know her or talk to her, but after seeing her trying to fake a smile, I identified with her. I had just went through a bad couple years and was soul searching, so to speak.
