Default SOLVED: Help Identify These Two Songs By Females

I've tried figuring these two songs out recently for weeks, about a month. The 1st one I actually saw the artist name but fail to recall her name. The 2nd one I've been curious for several years what the song was called. Here's all I know.

Song #1 - It's a dance song that can be catchy. I'm sure it came out after the mid 90s, and before the start of the new millenium. The song has some funny lyrics, sections with funny lyrics, or makes some words sound funny. It sort of sounds like scatting. It is not Crystal Waters - Gypsy Woman, Eiffel 65 - Blue, or Scatman. The part I remember sounds something like "bee......ba da bow bee....ba da bow...bee........ ba dad bow bee...ba da bow". Something like that. I think she may have been a One Hit Wonder, or possibly she had a hit or known song in the 80s for instance, and then she had this hit. I recall looking at this artist on wikipedia and one single listed was from the 80's and one from the 90s. She may have had a few more, but those two stood out.

Song #2 - This one sounds like reggae dancehall/dancehall. The chorus melody is the same thing as Evita (Don't Cry For Me Argentina http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Spy3Nd2D6w), the Don't Cry For Me Argentina part. In this song though the tempo is faster and has beat, as it is a more upbeat song. I'm sure the words are different, but it's the same melody. This came out during the 00's. My guess is either midway or after. I have a people I'm curious about, but overall not too sure.

This is a long shot, but is it possible that you're remembering the wikipedia entry backwards? Edie Brickell had one hit in the 80's and one in the 90's. However, it's the 80's hit that had funny lyrics and "scatting" (although the scatting is the guitar played through an envelope filter).

    80's - "What I Am" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDl3bdE3YQA

    90's - "Good Times" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqL1B...eature=related

Once again thank you, but it isn't it. Another thing I can say about the 1st song, the singer projects similar to dance music artists such as Amber, Jocelyn Enriquez. As if the person has another sound going on while they are singing. Almost like something that was recorded previously. You can make out what was said, but the voice quality isn't like a singer such as Celine Dion for instance. Hope that makes sense.

I don't seem to be having much luck with Song #1.
    Let's try Song #2:

I'm sorry bugmenot, I really appreciate everything but it isn't it. Right now I'm trying to work on the 1st one. I'm looking through Yearly Billboard Music Lists and trying to see if anything can trigger a memory or matches.

Bump, I got some great assistance for the 1st song, so that one is solved. My memory tricked me, or maybe I really haven't hear the song for a while that it seemed like it was different. She doesn't say anything remotely close to what I described. The only thing was the hit in the 80's (I think she had two which included Locomotion).

Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head (2001) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFx3WX4DES0

So now it's just the 2nd song.

EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot you are looking for a song by female artists...

Your description of the second song made think of "Me First and the Gimme Gimmes", they are a California cover band that plays punk rock with some ska influences (technically a supergroup, i.e., the members are already famous from having performed in other groups). Their album "Are a Drag" features a cover of the song "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" from "Evita", the Broadway musical (and film).

Thanks Chalk for looking though, I always appreciate that. This song is reggae dancehall I'm sure. I saw it a couple of times on BETJ. I just can't recall the program. Maybe if I find it, it will help.

UPDATE: I just received some information about parts of the chorus. Hopefully it rings a bell.
"real bad man know how fi wuk gyal, dem skin we like chicken"

SOLVED. That tip was very helpful.

Villain Riddim - Passa Passa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5lnXqF-dI8

So now both songs are solved. I thank everyone for all of their efforts, searches, comments, and posts.
