Nice translation! I didn't know that, thanks for the story, i love stories!^^ And that makes perfect sens with the song « Les bourgeois », in which he blatantly makes fun of the bourgeois.

    Jacques Brel - Les bourgeois

The video, the music, the lyrics, her voice, everything of this video is so peaceful, so relaxing, kind of magical...

Splendid song!! "La Bretagne, ça vous gagne!"... The only place in France where the radio sometimes suddenly switches from French to Breton language

By the way, this traditional song has been rearranged by Alan Stivell in a folk-rock version and then sampled (without authorization but that's another story) by the band Manau in a song that became a hit, La Tribu de Dana, about an epic war involving a fictive Armorican Breton tribe and told by the only survivor of the war.

Try a few times, alone with your head phones. Close your eyes and just listen.

Both did a great job: he composed a great song, and she delivered it in a masterful way.

Actually, the arrangements remind me of the greatest years of la chanson francaise.

Ou sont-ils maintenant??? En Turquie, je croix.

Mashallah, non! Sans la France et la Francophonie, la culture contemporaine turque serait beaucoup souffrir!

Yeap! I had discovered that one also, but I think that I like more Nolwenn Leroy's version.

    moi pour toujours
    j'envoie valser
les preuves d'amour en or plaqué

    c'est toi

Another proof of how influential the French culture is among the Turkish musicians.

Voila, Madame Funda Arar et une chanson compose par Monsieur Jacques Brel.

I'd be grateful if some kind Francophone could tell me the title of the original song. Çok mersi!

This is his JEWEL: "As Time Passes": "Avec Le Temps": Masterpiece!

And this is the right rendition, pour moi at least. La voix principale de mon enfance.

Oh, Calogero has grown incredible hair...

Nice version and if I understood Turkish I would probably prefer this one than Calogero's.
I like her deep, touching voice a lot! (I discovered her on a song posted by Muge, Zaferlerim, a duet with Demir Demirkan.)

Only one thing disturbs me about the video: in the lyrics Calogero is definitely talking about (or to...) his father. I don't know who is the man in the video but he doesn't seem so much to be her father

MDR, ofcs he's not! The Turkish cover is about something different. The man on the vid is the one she separated with in the lyrics

BTW Demir Demirkan is Sertab Erener's husband. To understand the Turkish lyrics, pleez go here:

Indeed, it explains better the video's context, thanks for the link!

I think the song is this one:

Brel - La chanson des vieux amants

    Translation

I tried to compare the Turkish and French lyrics to be sure but google definitely needs some lessons in both!

Surprising Turkish version, Pawel La chanson des Vieux Amants, the story of a couple already twenty years together and in spite of all
still together, has also been wonderfully interpreted in Italian by Francesco di Gregori and in Dutch by Herman van Veen

Edit: But, please, what is the title in Dutch? ^^
    Re-edit: 'found it!

A green song, that I would illustrate with this quote of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:

« Nous n'héritons pas de la terre de nos parents, nous l'empruntons à nos enfants. »

(« We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children »)

    Mickey 3D - Respire

    [IEexx5BR5eY]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEexx5BR5eY[/video]

    Approche-toi petit, écoute-moi gamin,

Come closer little one, listen to me boy,
I will tell you the story of the human being
At the beginning there was nothing, at the beginning it was great
Nature was going its way and there was no path
Then men arrived with their big boots
Kicks in the face to gain respect
One way roads he began to trace
