what does bleu noir mean? Bruised just like in English?

Could you also share with us some French colour-related idioms?

Alors I don't think "bleu noir" is related to a bruise (a black bruise - especially around the eye - would be un cocard/coquard or un oeil au beurre noir ), as there is no article before. Bleu-noir more likely refers to the colour, it's something between blue and black but you can't distinguish or claim it to be either blue or black.

In French (just like in English I think?) you can append two adjectives of colour (with a - between them). In that case you don't agree them with the noun, ex: des yeux verts --- green eyes, des yeux bleus --- blue eyes, BUT des yeux bleu-vert --- blue-green eyes.

As for coloured idioms: sure, no problem! But I will post them here because this is a thread of music.
