Note.
I have never been south of the alamo.
Please do not look on this as a geography or history lesson.
I was born in texas many years ago
just a few miles south of the alamo
my parents were farmers, couldn't get much to grow
oh, the times were hard, south of the alamo
Well I grew up fast, and I grew up mean
robbed my first bank before I turned sixteen
the sheriff tried to stop me, but I laid him low
now he's six feet under, south of the alamo
Molly was the name of the girl I loved
hair like a raven, skin like a dove
I asked for her hand, but she said no
when she heard about the killing, south of the alamo
i gave her a ring, she threw it to the floor
saying you're a killer, don't love you any more
so i shot her twice in the stomach, and she died real slow
now her ghost haunts the south of the alamo
Well I got out of there, on a horse and the rail
till I met up with Billy on the chisholm trail
Bonny was the best friend, I'd ever know
and we cursed what was south of the alamo
We robbed many a bank, killed many a man
everyone feared us, we didn't give a damn
we saw wanted posters, wherever we'd go
for the killers from nowhere, and south of the alamo
Then Billy met an old friend,Garret was his name
who would later kill BIlly, just to get a little fame
Meanwhile we said goodbye and I headed to mexico
they said, they'd raise a little hell, down south of the alamo
They caught me in in juarez, and hung me up high
just a lynch mob wanting to see a sheriff's killer die
no one cared about Molly, she was a half breed you know
They don't give a damn about half breeds even south of the alamo
Well, that's the end of my story, there's no moral to tell
But i hope you enjoyed it's telling, and I hope I told it well
I've Just one thing to say, before you go
why don't you come on down to the south of the alamo
Yeah, if you're ever down this way, please say hello
to the dead and the living from south of the alamo
Yeah, if you're ever down this way, please say hello
to the dead and the living from south of the alamo
