    Default La Turquia ed Italia

Speaking of Turquia, here's a very nice cover of an Italian song (originally sung by pobre Mina).

It was actually covered by many Turkish artists but this version is special because it's a duet and it was a song that promoted a movie written and directed by no more no less than the male singer, ie. Özcan Deniz. The film itself is a bitter-sweet marital comedy that's almost a cover of the Italian movie "Mattrimonio all'italiana" by VIttorio de Sica.

Those who know a bit about the Turkish culture also know that Italy has been only second to France as the source of inspiration for Turkish artists, musicians and writers.

Turquia, sempre, sempre dodici punti. Brava!

A trip to Venezia. Many excellent songs have been composed about Venice- in many of them the Gondola is mentioned

    Luciano Tajoli:

an English girl on the Canal Grande
looks at the moon, smiles and leaves
    gondola....
a little sentimental baker appears on the bridge
    sighs deeply
she smiles and he blinks an eye at her
    and in that very moment
    a lovestory is (being) born
    gondola...
    each night in Venezia
    underneath the moon
    on the lagoon glides
a most most beautiful dream of love

Default Un viaggio italiano - parte 1

OK, now this is only loosely connected with Italia. As Sinan Akçıl paid a visit to Paris to shoot the video to his latest song, his colleague Gökhan Özen had earlier travelled to Milan (funny that both of them chose two rivalling European fashion capitals )

We shall also take a short trip to Venice soon.

Zucchero, just like Amerigo Vespucci before him, has reached l'America. Here's a duet with lovely Randy Crawford as a proof:

A song that perhaps should have opened this thread. But, due to Chris Botti's participation in, it matches the Zucchero's post.

    Dall'America in Italia .

I'm just back from a Venezian carneval , where they usually sing traditional Veneto folksongs: One of them is this:
describing the work of a gondolier....

    Grazie mille,

    he survived it!

Therefore he hurried back here to add his favourite Italian air, without which you couldn't call it an Italian thread, could you?

So, let's listen to Anghela Gheorghiu singing "Un bel di vedremo" from "Madama Butterfly"
