Portugal...

As requested, here is the portuguese thread! When I say portuguese, I really want it to be only with portuguese songs and musicians.
Everyone is invited to participate! I'll try to post the translations or do them when there's none.
I don't want seem bossy but please, no covers. I want to hear my language above all

Divirtam-se! (have fun!)

You've probably heard this one in other threads but... I'm in love. Ana Moura, is one of this "new generation" fado singer and she is amazing!

Mr. Turkish is very happy to see this thread!!!! Cos now the Entire Mediterranean is represented here!!

And you'll be happy to learn, Patricia, that I won't be able to post any Turkish covers of Portuguese songs 'cos there aren't any I would know of.

Enoo has already posted my fav Madredeus song, so what can I do now?

I would gladly post the entire "Fados" movie or something by Fausto, but in case of the latter there seems to be nothing at youtube, porque?

Sooooo, there's only one thing I can do, post the amazing Mariza:

Patrícia knows that she and Christina are my favourite fado artists

Dulce Pontes convinced a few members to enter Forum, if I remember well. She really can't be left out:

I went to dance on my little boat
there in the cruel sea
the sea was roaring
telling me I went there to steal away
the peerless light
of the beautiful look in your eyes
come to find out if the sea is right
come to see my heart dancing
if I go dancing on my little boat
I won't go to the cruel sea
nor will I tell where I went
to smile, dance, dream, live...with you

Amália Rodriguez - Nome de Rua (translation)

[jl-izhiQrqg]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl-izhiQrqg

Nome de rua quieta
Onde à noite ninguém passa
Onde o ciúme é uma seta
Onde o amor é uma taça
Nome de rua secreta
Onde à noite ninguém passa
Onde a sombra do poeta
De repente, nos abraça!
Name of a quiet street
Where no one passes by at night
Where jealousy is an indicator
Where love is a goblet
Name of a secret street
Where no one passes by at night
Where the shadow of the poet
Suddenly, embraces us!

I hope Miss Patricia will forgive my breaking the rules by posting the song below.

But it just begged to be included in this thread, especially that it's totally devoted and praising this beautiful country!

Yeah, sometimes it takes a foreigner to appreciate a country's beauty, no???

Jorge Palma - A gente vai continuar

[-yffYgrWsVI]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yffYgrWsVI

Tira a mão do queixo, não penses mais nisso
O que lá vai já deu o que tinha a dar
Quem ganhou, ganhou e usou-se disso
Quem perdeu há-de ter mais cartas para dar
E enquanto alguns fazem figura
Outros sucumbem à batota
Chega aonde tu quiseres
Mas goza bem a tua rota

Enquanto houver estrada para andar
A gente vai continuar
Enquanto houver estrada para andar
Enquanto houver ventos e mar
A gente não vai parar
Enquanto houver ventos e mar

Todos nós pagamos por tudo o que usamos
O sistema é antigo e não poupa ninguém, não
Somos todos escravos do que precisamos
Reduz as necessidades se queres passar bem
Que a dependência é uma besta
Que dá cabo do desejo
E a liberdade é uma maluca
Que sabe quanto vale um beijo

Enquanto houver estrada para andar
A gente vai continuar
Enquanto houver estrada para andar
Enquanto houver ventos e mar
A gente não vai parar
Enquanto houver ventos e mar

I must admit the pronunciation of Portuguese remains one of the greatest mysteries in my life...
