iPod in the Jungle;what can I say? It's cute!I joined your "in progress" group.I was writing Frankie a PM,touched the wrong thingamajig and ended up on your page.I defo will post some "works in progress".This is a good idea,as posting unfinished stuff in Lyrics Review never appealed to me.Now I've got a place to see how I'm doing.Good idea!
"Ipod in the jungle" was inspired by a conversation between Wishin and me regarding "not being able to live one day without music"
I suppose it could be better stll, as the title is promising in my opinion.

To be sure: that idea was not mine, but Wishin OnAStar. Me too thought that's grand. So, looking forward to seeing you there too! I hope your unfinished stuff will also courageously be put there once in a while. I plan to do so. I'll start with the three you've mentioned this weekend.

Thanks for the Go Advanced tip! I fixed it!

Jolly good observation, Doug. Your humour is as usual abundant and unbeatable!

    Default selfish serenade

selfish sods , that's what we are
or do you think you have risen above it
look at the sky, can you still see a star
amidst the pollution, don't say that you love it
to hear people talk on their cellphones all day
closing their eyes for destruction and waste
why do we have such peculiar taste
can anyone show us the way?
angels I see with blood on their wings
    sarcastic smiles telling horrible things
an earth in turmoil, an alarmbell rings
will soon come our very last day?

Selfish Serenade:Another great piece,Amaryn. Now,let me say this,I do mean it with love,if you (and others)continue to write how bad things are,I think folks will get the feeling that,"Oh,there he goes again"or ignore it completely. That being said I've written a couple of "protest songs"(The Easy Excuse"and "Real Problems")The reason,I think, they had impact, was they were written with feeling and heart. Not pumped out on a daily basis.Do you get what I mean?If you said something that needs to said, that's great. But simply rewriting it over and over delutes the importance of the collective songs/poems.I could read them forever, but I'm convinced the message is on point.Let's try to change some minds now!!

you are a wise man, Doug. I know, overeating kills. "Never eat more than you can lift" said Miss Piggy. I do therefore indeed write different kinds of
poems, songs and aforisms, some about love, others about nature and some about different approaches to life.

I shall continue doing so- indeed, variety makes the skies so beautiful and fascinating and I will stick to it, Doug! Not to worry, my flower bro! Therefore "Rare Colour Love " "Destiny", "Ipod In The Jungle" and other, short aforisms.

Thanks for underlining the point. Important for all of us.

PS: I promise no owls at the moment
PS 2: I had promised ThatsMeOnTheTrain a poem about selfishness

    Default a moment of happiness

I walked past this house on a bright winterday
and went in for a cuppa tea
there was nobody else , just me and a cat
who sat on a broken TV
"I've been here all winter" I heard the cat say
"though it's rather cold in this house,
the reason, you see , is I play day and night
with my best friend I have:it's a mouse"
We chase one another, we roll in the snow
we dance, play games and we sing
you can stay for a while , you don't have to go
we'll be here at least untill spring
I wondered in fact, a mouse and a cat
    living together in peace
but I was there, it's as simple as that
for the first time I felt at ease

    closer, baby, please stay near

lift me up, keep me there
    see Odyssee sail the sea
    an adventure, you and me
let the stormwind set us free

lift me up, put me down
    let Athena show the way
though the sun sets a new day
comes with breakfast on a tray

    Default northern lights

stars are twinkling in the skies, the night again arrives
the mountains bathing undernearth the moonlight
so vast and empty seems this world and yet so full of life
a mystery it knows so well to hide it
this vast forgotten land, I try to understand
its mystery it knows so well to hide it

the northern lights illuminate the country everywhere
above the trees performing joyful dances
Lapland where the snow can be almost blue and fair
and gnomes accompany lots of romances
oh land where northern lights console the long, long nights
and gnomes accompany lots of romances

    Default your lips

    your lips
    are a wine-red carpet
    behind them
    I enter
    a palace
    with ivory stairs
    I open the door
    of a room
    filled with heavenly odours
    and close my eyes
    to enjoy

On the contrary, Doug. I agree. But I am reading 2013 in order--perhaps amaryn has already addressed this. It seems contraindicative.

I admit: complicated way of thinking. You caught me in the act
OK, so here's the answer. Amaryn's poem, amaryn's explanation. Sometimes there's a glitch between languages. I can strain and see amaryn's point . . . but I'm inclined to agree with Doug, having had my "times" of introversion. During those, I would NEVER unlock or open my windows and usually not even open my shades or curtains! . . . as badly as my household and I might need it! :S

All very good, amaryn, in your story-telling style! Of course, I am partial to your story poems/songs. However, do not let me influence you too much. You have obviously been influenced by haiku practice. This is your new style of 2013. So don't lose wherever your own creativity takes you . . . trust yourself. I trust you, and can't wait to read page 4 of your 2013 poems!

This is great, amaryn. Again, I love your "story poems"!! Thank you so much for this one, with which I can really identify. Immediately, the idea of cat and mouse as companions struck me as wonderful imagery for our turbulent times; and an image that needs to be considered by people who will (sadly) never read or contemplate your poem. And so this world [which you wrote about previously] goes--those who wish for peace will also actively pursue it; those who are selfish will not be open to ideas that do not give them immediate and easy personal gratification. Still, the world needs poems like this one, dear.

Indeed, Frankie! You admit you would NEVER do it during the period of introversion. Thus I say "would rather need to open".
You see? That's the whole point
