    Cool Getting Old Blues

    ************
    Hate getting old
    Here's what I do
    Wash my hair
    With Super-Glue

    You learn so much
    Growing old
    What it is
    I've never been told

    Gum my meat
    And my women
    Put down the Bible
    Took up sinning
    Should have done this
    From the beginning

    Growing old gracefully
    I'd be lying
    To stay younger looking
    Anything's worth trying
    What's so good about
    Getting closer to dying

    You learn so much
    Growing old
    What it is
    I've never been told

    Gum my meat
    And my women
    Put down the Bible
    Took up sinning
    Should have done this
    From the beginning

    Running towards life's
    Finish line
    Remembering what
    I've left behind
    Sex,drugs and
    Rock and Roll
    The women I loved
    Heart and soul

    You learn so much
    Growing old
    Just what it is
    I've never been told

Take up sinning still follows me as a lovely provocative line: yeah, imagine those who'll be 75+ will still be rocking on Satisfaction of the Stones and Gimme Some Loving of Spencer Davis While the nurses prepare their beds, the pensioners will take up sinning and might even do better than the
younger generation Just running up the stairs could cause a problem, lol
    I WUV this, Doug.

Thank you.You can see I took your advice and changed this up a bit.I always think that if you can make someone smile during your song, you're half way to them liking it.

    Doug,

Your song sums it up. I turned 67 and have the same thoughts. I've learned nothing, maybe know less than when I was in the first grade.

Yes,I do Kathy. That's why I fenced so hard with you on "Honesty"Thread.I've put most of the old song lyrics to music. The newer ones, like this,I'm waiting to get together with my old bandmates to play them. Some songs I have a very strong notion how they're suppose to go(It Takes Money,Louie the Lip,Ghostrider)but the ones I've yet to play are up for interpatetion.

You can't outrun it,but you can make fun of it!I thought it was possible that women may find that line ah,objectionable.I was trying to go for a giggle and am glad you may have gotten one out of it.

These lyrics are rather inspirational. While it may be a blues tune, it certainly doesn't paint growing old as depressing but rather as a celebration. The first smile was at 'Wash my hair with Super-Glue', suffice to say I smiled a couple more times.
