Brighter Side

Somewhere deep inside
There is the darkness we all try to hide
Its where our dreams are born
It's where our lives are torn


And within this darkness
Lies the pain and emptiness
So powerful in yet so restrained
It seems our lives have nothing to blame


But when our hearts ache with pain
And our souls began to cry like rain
We realize that this pain within
Is the very thing we cannot comprehend


Instead of burying it's ashes into the ground
We leave them and they hang around
And so nothing good ever comes
Only our souls blood runs


Which causes our feelings to cascade
Into the darkness, which marches down like a parade
No one seems to follow us here
And we are now like fallen deer


Laying on the road carrion feast
We are soon devoured we become the least
And from here we fall back into the ground
Fertilizing the next soul that will march down


But I believe that this isn't how it has to be
I believe that we can be anything that we dream
That our souls will rise from the darkness inside
And we will live, we will find a brighter side

I second you on that, Doug! John, your Eruption of Positive Thinking makes me sing and its three o'clock in the morning when "normal people"
should be in bed with their eyes closed (mostly)- at least at my age,lol! In total Nice you mention we have a function: fertilizers! Never thought of that one

Great philosophy in this Johnb and i always appreciate the possibilities of happy endings, so when i finished reading this i felt very well "fed" and satisfied

This was inspired by the novel Heart of Darknessy. and i thank all of you for commenting.

Basically this poem is about a cycle all throughout our history we have made the same mistakes and be poem shows this but in the last stanza we find an ounce of hope amongst all of the despair. That is why there is only one happy stanza because that hope is so rare and so hard to find that often times we have to fall to find it.
