Default Rock song (alternative) about beauty and suicide or murder "down by a river"

Can't remember this one, it has a good beat but the lyrics are strange.

It's about a pretty girl (beauty) and maybe suicide or murder or rape "by a river"

    wierd but good beat.

    thanks for trying

Try Pulp's "Down by the river" or

May be a cover of Neil Young's
"Down By The River" (lyrics follow)

    Be on my side,
    I'll be on your side,
    baby
    There is no reason
    for you to hide
    It's so hard for me
    staying here all alone
    When you could be
    taking me for a ride.

    Yeah, she could drag me
    over the rainbow,
    send me away
    Down by the river
    I shot my baby
    Down by the river,
    Dead, oh, shot her dead.

    You take my hand,
    I'll take your hand
    Together we may get away
    This much madness
    is too much sorrow
    It's impossible
    to make it today.

    Yeah, she could drag me
    over the rainbow,
    send me away
    Down by the river
    I shot my baby
    Down by the river,
    Dead, oh, shot her dead.

    Be on my side,
    I'll be on your side,
    baby
    There is no reason
    for you to hide
    It's so hard for me
    staying here all alone
    When you could be
    taking me for a ride.

    Yeah, she could drag me
    over the rainbow,
    send me away
    Down by the river
    I shot my baby
    Down by the river,
    Dead, oh, shot her dead.

I can think of 2 possibilities - 1) Hazard by Richard Marx. Here is an extract of the lyrics:

....We used to walk down by the river
She loved to watch the sun go down
We used to walk along the river
And dream our way out of this town ...
No one understood what I felt for Mary
No one cared until the night she went out walking alone
    And never came home ...

    2) Where The Wild Roses Grow by Kylie Minogue and Nick Cave. An extract of the lyrics:

...On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he stood smiling above me with a rock in his fist..

Of the two above, the Richard Marx one is the more 'beatier' of the two.
