    Default “I Won’t Fight Again”

Lyrics & Music by Terry Stewart 8/16/2014

I was there when the war was new
I fought and killed as I was trained to do
I even bled a time or two
    But I won’t fight again

I saw so many of us die
I swear I heard their mommas cry
And some of them they were friends of mine
    But I won’t fight again

    Chorus: 1
God bless the ones who fought and died
And God help the family’s that still cry
Let’s never forget the blessed few
That made it back home to me and you

War is just a game they play
Where no one wins in the end they say
But this I swear till my dyeing day
    I won’t fight again

I did my part or so I’m told
I stood and fought till my blood ran cold
But now it’s time that I grow old
    No I won’t fight again

    Chorus: 2
God bless the ones who fought and died
And God help the family’s that still cry
Let’s never forget the blessed few
That made it back home to me and you

War will come and war will go
Men will die as it takes its toll
That’s the cost for peace I know
    But I won’t fight again

I’ve seen what war can really do
To even those that make it through
I’ve been there a time or two
    No I won’t fight again

    Chorus: 3
God bless them one one and all
For their the ones that make our country strong
If not for them where would we be
If not for them would we be free

If not for them where would we be
If not for them would we be free

    “Goin Fishin”
Words and music by Terry Stewart 8-05-2012

Well its 5 o’clock and the son not up
You can hear my old truck warm in up in the drive
The coffee’s on the toast is up
Well grab a bite and have a cup – Ya that’s right

    Choirs:
Were goin fishin, were getting out a hear
Just the guys and all the gear
Grab the food and ice the bear
    Were goin fishing

Well we finally patched up dads old boat
Fingers crossed we hope it floats this time
The weathers good, were feeling great,
Were getten gone a little late but that’s just fine

And we’ve got to stop and get some gas,
And the 2 six packs we brought won’t last the day
And we can’t forget to grab some chips,
Candy bars and liquorish sticks OH YA and bait

    Choirs:
Were goin fishin, it’s that time of year
Just the guys and all the gear
Grab the food and ice the bear
    Were goin fishing

I can see us on the boat
Drinkin cold ones as we float on the lake
End every now and then well find
A big one on the line, boy I can’t wait

And when the sun does goes down
You can find us sittin round the old campfire
    Tellin stories about the day
When the big one got a way, Ya were all liars

    Choirs:
Were goin fishin, were getting out a hear
Just the guys and all the gear
Grab the food and ice the bear
    Were goin fishing

    Default “Good Ole Santa Claus”

Words and music by Terry Stewart 7/15/2012

There’s a little old man in a bright red suit
    Who fly’s around each year
In a magic slay full of toys they say
Being pulled by eight rain dear

He’s a jolly old soul with a big white beard
And a smile across his face
And if you’ve been good you can count on him
    Stopping by your place

    Chorus:
I’m talkin about Santa, good-ole Santa Clause
He’s the one who comes each Christmas
    Bringing joy to all.

He’s brings lots of toys for the girls and the boys
And some gifts for mom and dad
He spreads Christmas cheer both far and near
Even if you’re happy or sad

He’s a sneaky old soul that will come and go
And will never leave a trace
But when Christmas morning finally comes
    He’ll put a smile on everyone’s face

    Chorus:
I’m talking about Santa, good-ole Santa Clause
He’s the one who comes each Christmas
    Bringing gifts for all.

Now Santa lives at the old North Pole
    With Mrs. Clause they say
He gets lots of help from some jolly Elves
When it comes to filling his slay

And his eight reindeer that rest all year
Are up and ready to go
All they need to hear from Santa
Is a mighty Ho! Ho! Ho!

    Chorus:
I’m talking about Santa, good-ole Santa Clause
He’s the one who comes each Christmas
    Bringing joy to all.

    Default “Momma We Miss You”

Music & Lyrics by Terry Stewart March 1, 2014

    (Phrase 1)
Well momma, it’s been a while, since we had a talk, I thought that
Id drop on by, and try to ketch you up.
The family they all send their love. They said they’d stop by soon
I just thought, we could have a talk, the way we use to do.

    (Phrase 2)
Now daddy he don’t come around, to see us any more, I think he
found the bottle, to help him fight his wars.
And granny well she is ailing and it won’t be too long till she is up there
with you, so you won’t be alone.

    Chorus:
But Momma we miss you and we wish you were here.
I know the Good Lord took you but we don’t think is fair
But were just down here a trying, as hard as we can
To keep this family goin the way that you planed

    (Phrase 3)
Now Momma please don’t worry, were all doing fine. Preacher
Jones from Sunday school drops by from time to time
And the welfare check keeps coming, their always on time, I guess
They haven’t heard the news that were just doing fine

    Repeat Chorus:

    (Phrase 4)
Bobby Joe is working hard down at the mill every night right after
School, it helps to pay the bills.
On weekends we all get up just before the dawn, the girls all do
The house chores and us guys we work the farm.

    (Phrase 5)
Yesterday was Christmas and we all had a ball, running round the
Christmas tree as we watched the snowflakes fall.
Bobby Joe played Santa as he gave out the gifts, the young-ins all
Got candy and toys made out of sticks.

(Repeat Chorus) then repeat Phrase 1 –and fade out.

    Default “Tip Jar”

Words and music by Terry Stewart 8-01-2012

Well he makes his living playing country music
With his old guitar he roams from town to town
You can always find him standing on a corner
Pickin on his guitar and sippen on some Crown

Well the story goes he used to be a big star
Hell he even played the Opry so they say
But now he roams around with a tip Jar
Hopen that somebody ---will pay to hear him play

    Choirs:
For life is hard and short in country music
There’s always someone new to take your place
But if you’re really good you just might make it
Unless you find the bottle ---and drink your fame away

People use to stand in line for hours
Just to hear him play his country songs
But over time he lost his mind to whisky
And like so many others –-- He went and lost it all

Now when you see him standing on your corner
Remember he’s a famous country star
So if you ask him to play a tune for ya
Don’t forget to put ---some money in his jar

    Choirs:
For life is hard and short in country music
There’s always someone new to take your place
But if you’re really good you just might make it
Unless you find the bottle --- and drink your fame away

    Default "My Old Ford Truck"

Words and music by Terry Stewart

I’ve got an old Ford truck that I bought in 85
It’s got a lot of hard miles, but the motor still runs fine.
It’s a little beat up cause the paint is chippen
One door don’t open, and the tailgates missin
But even in the morning it starts up every time.

And I’ve got a big old dog that I’ve had for quite a while
She’s a real slow mover’ but I guess that’s just her stile
But when she hears that old Ford fire’n up
Quick as lightning she’s up in the truck
Ya that big old dog just sittin with a big ol smile

    Chorus:
And I drive that truck every day to work and back
With my big old dog stretched out on a gunny sack
With the radio playing as loud as it can go
It’s just me and my dog and my truck goin down the road

When the weekend comes we head down to the lake
With a cooler of bear and a couple of big ole stakes
Now I prefer my steak cooked medium well,
But my big old dog likes it bloody as hell
But it don’t really matter cause shell eat it any ole way

    Chorus:
And I drive that truck every day to work and back
With my big old dog stretched out on a gunny sack
With the radio playing just as loud as it can go
It’s just me and my dog and my truck goin down the road

It’s been a good old truck and it never really let me down
Sometimes I wonder how long it’s gonna be around
But when it’s time does come cause it just won’t start
Its gonna hurt me bad and probably break my hart
When I tear it down and sell the whole dang truck for parts

    “But until then” (Repeat Chorus)

Words and music by Terry Stewart June 2, 2008

Just when I thought I had beaten lonely
And my heart was on my side
    No more worrying about tomorrow
I took one day at a time

No more crying on my pillow
    From regrets of yesterday
    I had everything I wanted
    Cause the lonely went away

    Choirs:
Am I back to being lonely
Is my heart about to brake
Is the way I feel for you
    Just a terrible mistake

Am I back to being lonely
Or am I just a fool
    Afraid to feel the way
The way I feel for you.

I know you say you love me
And that your love is true
    You say forget the past
    My futures here with you.

But no matter how I try
And no matter what I do
I can’t put the fear aside
Yes the fear of losing you

Am I back to being lonely

    Lookin out my window
    Without you hear with me

    Choirs:

    Default “Dance With Me Tonight”

Music & Lyrics by Terry Stewart

They say that love is like a dance
Where two lovers take the other’s hand
Where the sound of their hearts sets the beat
As their eyes and bodies softly meet

    So dance with me tonight
Let me hold you oh so tight
Let me lead you as we go
As I sway you to and fro

    Dance with me tonight
Let the music fill your heart
Let the feelings we share last the night
As we dance till the early morning light

Take my hand and let us share the night
As we dance till we see the morning light
We may find just what we’re looking for
As we glide so softly across the floor.

    So dance with me tonight
Let me hold you oh so tight
Let me lead you as we go
As I sway you to and fro

    Dance with me tonight
Let the music fill your heart
Let the love we share be the light
That guides us safely across the floor

Default “I Made a Big Mistake That Day”

Words and Music by Terry Stewart 8/28/2014

I made a big mistake that day
I should have simply stayed away
I should have called a friend
    Instead of seeing her

I should have found a better way
Of getting through that lonely day
    I should have stayed away
    Instead of seeing her

    Chorus:
Well (But)I knew when I first saw her
    Man I didn’t stand a chance
I knew my heart was only hers
    It only took 1 glance

I made a big mistake that day
I should have simply stayed away
I should have called a friend
    Instead of seeing her

Now I’m pulling in my driveway
In my brand new mini van
And my old corvette is parked
    Out in the street

And it’s been a month of Sundays
Since I’ve hung-out with my friends
Though most of my good buddies
    Just live across the street

    Repeat Chorus:

Now I spend my free time in the park
With her two kids until it’s dark
    Then we pop some corn
    And sit and watch TV

But even though I love her so
Deep down inside I truly know
    That this is not the
    Kind of life for me

Default “A Little More To Us”

Words & Music by Terry Stewart 8-27-2012

    Lyrics:
Well here we are alone at last
I can’t believe how time has past
The kids have all grown up
    And moved away

Now every night we watch TV
It’s Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy
I really think that there could be
    A little more to us.

    Choirs:
There’s got to be a whole lot more
Than sitten round and growing old
At least that’s what I’m being told
    In all the magazines

Maybe they might have it right
At least I think we need to try
To figure out how there could be
    A little more to us

    Lyrics:
I really think that we should talk about
    Going out on evening walks
    And maybe holding hands
    Like we use to do

And wouldn’t it be kind of nice
To walk along the beach some night
Who knows we just might find
    A little more to us.

    Repeat Choirs:

    Lyrics:
Well how about we take a trip
Along the coast on a sailing ship
Where we could sit and watch
    The sun go down

Or maybe we could take some time
And try to find some piece of mind
Who knows we just might find
    A little more to us

Lyrics & Arrangement by Terry Stewart

    Verse: 1
We’ll I heard you pokin fun at that old cowboy
Ya the one that’s leaning up against the bar
I heard you made a joke about his beard and his old clothes
Well I’m thinkin maybe you may have went too far

    Chorus: 1
For that old man is sixteen ways too crazy
And he’s meaner-- than any man I’ve known
Yes that old man is sixteen ways too crazy
And from that look on his face I’m thinkin you should go

    Verse: 2
I know you think your tough and that’s all right boy
And from the size of you I’m thinkin you can fight
But I’m hopin for your sake, your medical is paid
And you have someone to give you your last rights

    Chorus: 2
For that old man is sixteen ways too crazy
He could bring you down with just a single blow
Ya that old man is sixteen ways too crazy
So don’t you come to me and say you didn’t know

    Verse 3
I know to you he’s nothing but an old man
Who can barely stand up straight against the bar
Well I’ve got news for you, that old man you were talkin to
He’s by far the toughest cowboy in this bar

    Chorus: 3
For that old man is sixteen ways too crazy
So you better turn around and walk away
Ya that old man is sixteen ways too crazy
And I’d hate to see what happens if you stay

    Verse: 4
Well it wasn’t long ago when I first saw him
He was standing at that bar just like tonight
When this big ole buck stepped up and tried to call his bluff
That’s the first time I’ve seen a grown man cry

    Chorus: 4
For that old man is sixteen ways too crazy
And he’s meaner-- than any man I’ve known
Yes that old man is sixteen ways too crazy
And every man whose here tonight -- would tell you so
Yes every man whose here tonight -- would tell you so

Structure your verses in a way the reader can better understand their meaning. If it is hard to read they may quit reading before they get to the end. Just because you know what you mean to say doesn’t always come across to the reader. Also be sure to be aware of 1st person, 2nd person and 3rd person. Try not to mix them up in your writings.
You seem to have talent now all you need is structure

    Default “Never Felt So Alive”

Words & Music by Terry Stewart 04-12-2013

I never thought that I’d play a part
In a dream that finally came true
And I never knew that falling in love
Was something so easy to do

For I was alone for far too long
Then you came into my life
So I want you to know that I love you so
And I will for the rest of my life

I always hoped that one day I’d know
How it felt to truly be loved
But now that I know I will never let go
Of this feeling I have in my heart

For you make me feel that true love is real
Every time I look in your eyes
And when we kiss I must admit
    I’ve never felt so alive

Yes I always hoped that one day I’d know
How it felt to truly be loved
    But now that I know
    I will never let go
Of this feeling I have in my heart

    Default “Judgment Day”

Words & Music by Terry Stewart

Well I was walking through the park last Sunday
When this little old man came up to me
He was holding on to a bible
As he got down on his knees
That’s when this little old man started preachin
As he stared straight up at me

He said get down, ya get down
Get down on your knees and pray
He said get down -- ya get down
Get down on your knees and pray
Get down on your knees all you sinners
And get ready for the Judgment Day

Just then this little old man started crying
As his tears rolled down his face
You could see in his eyes he was trying
To warn the whole human race
That the Day of Judgment was upon us
And these were to be our final days

He said get down, Ya get down
Get down on your knees and pray
He said get down -- Ya get down
Get down on your knees and pray
Get down on your knees all you sinners
And get ready for the Judgment Day

So when the Day of Judgment is upon us
Only those that are righteous will be spared
When the Day of Judgment is upon us
Only those that are righteous will be spared
So get down on your knees all you sinners
And hope that the good Lord hears your prayers

Ya get down -- Ya get down
Get down on your knees and pray
Ya get down -- Ya get down
Get down on your knees and pray
Get down on your knees all you sinners

Words & Music By Terry Stewart

Well my daddy was a hard man
    He never gave an inch
He’d hit you with a closed hand
If he couldn’t find a switch
Ya daddy was a hard man
Up until the day he died
And even though she always said she loved him
    Even momma didn’t cry.

    Choirs:
Even Momma didn't cry when daddy died
And no one at the funeral wondered why.
We all came out, and bowed our heads,
And said or last good by’s
But even though she always said she loved him
    Even momma didn’t cry.
Well it all came down one evenin

After Daddy got home from work
He was curs-in at my mamma
He was being at his worst
    Mamma said I’ve had it
Then shot him dill he died
And even though she always said she loved him
    Even momma didn’t cry

    Choirs:
Even Momma didn't cry when daddy died
And no one at the funeral wondered why.
We all came out, and bowed our heads,
And said or last good by’s
But even though she always said she loved him
    Even momma didn’t cry.
