This song is dedicated to the writers, inkers, and readers of EC Comics.
Warning: pretty gruesome at the end.

    (Music style: country)

FOUL PLAY (in homage to EC Comics)

    verse 1:
    There on the pages
    Of an ancient magazine
    Some called it very clever
    Some called it quite obscene

    Chorus:
    Play ball
    The ref called
    The midnight game began

And the shudders down the spines
    of readers ran.

    verse 2:
    A greedy baseball player
    Herbie Satten was his name
    Would do just about anything
To be tops in his game

    verse 3:
    Ol' Bayville's greatest batter
    They say was Jerry D.
    Someday a really champion
They all said he would be

    Chorus:
    Play ball
    The ref called
    the midnight game began

And the shudders down the spines
    of readers ran

    verse 4:
When Jerry D stepped up to bat
    He stumbled and fell dead
A heart attack was all it was
That's what the doc first said

    verse 5:
But when he looked a second time
    A poison he did find
And that is when the Bayviille team
    Got vengeance in their minds

    Chorus:
    Play ball
    The ref called
    the midnight game began

And the shudders down the spines
    of readers ran

    Verse 6:
    They lured Herbie Satten out
    With promises of fame
And told him they knew what he did
    At that fateful baseball game

Ol' Satten had nowhere to run
Now he's nowhere to be found
Unless you look a little closer
    At the Bayville pitcher's mound

    Alt Chorus:
    Play ball
    The ref called
    the midnight game began

    Played with the limbs...
...and the entrails of a man

This is a good progressing story and flows very well, and it's pulled off well too. Unique and totally unexpected. Nice work Elegant!

Not entirely mine, as stated. It is in homage to an episode of an old EC Comics. the story is worth a look. This song is dedicated to those who wrote it, in the same way as songs about Bilbo Baggins or the warrior Tyr.

Another "Casey at Bat"!!I'm very hip to EC Comics and the plight they went through.Being accused of causing crime with their comics is laughable, but the religious right and their Catholic League can censor anything they don't approve of.

Comics may or may not cause crime. But religion DEFINITELY causes WAR! I think that maybe all the comic book writers should get together and sue to ban religion. (LOL!)
