Unfortunately, I don't really have a melody or any chords prepared for this song. I wrote the chorus while listening to Gavin Rossdale a while back and just went with it. Feel free to critique/review.

"I know it's hard to tell
Left from right in a backwards world
    Sick disguised as feeling well

    But those same demons tugging
At your shirt sleeve will leave
If you quit lugging them around

May you forever run until you find happiness
And the confidence to fulfill your dreams
May you forever run until you hold the world
In the palm of your hand and take a stand
May you, may you forever run

    I know you don't understand
Why the walls cave in around you
See, it's part of a greater plan

    And those same dead-end ambitions
    Are just waiting to happen
They're telling you to say when
    The time is now

May you forever run until you find happiness
And the confidence to fulfill your dreams
May you forever run until you hold the world
In the palm of your hand and take a stand
May you, may you forever run

    With no regard for tomorrow
May you forever be in spirit
Wild and free as you please

May you forever run until you find happiness
And the confidence to fulfill your dreams
May you forever run until you hold the world
In the palm of your hand and take a stand
May you, may you forever run"

These lyrics are very inspiring and uplifting. The title reminded me of that Neil Young classic Long May You Run, but you have created a potential classic yourself. My only tiny little bit of critique would be the final lines of the chorus. 'Ant taken a stand' comes as a bit of an anti-climax after the strong opening lines of the chorus.
'Until you HOLD the world in the palm of your hand', sounds more powerful in my opinion. But then again, I'm not a native speaker, so don't take my critique too seriously;-)

Hmm, I think you're right. Perhaps the chorus would be better as this:

"May you forever run until you find happiness
And the confidence to fulfill your dreams
May you forever run until you hold the world
In the palm of your hand and take a stand
May you, may you forever run"

I just got around to reading this..........no excuses,I stayed home on News Years Eve.I didn't read the first edition but Peter knows his stuff;lyrics wise. This could be a classic song with the right melody behind it.Great lyrics!

Melodies are what I'm worst at, unfortunately.

There is not enough space or time to truly let the song unwind
