Pretty standard song with my own twist.

    Normality is overrated, he said
It's easier to walk around jaded
    Than pick himself up again

    Finalize the withdrawal he tried
    When every other option wavered
    Stuck on pity and self-hatred

A blessed man carrying a heavy sin
There's no telling where he's been
    Or the horrors he's seen
But still he sees fit to destroy
Everything he once held so dear
    All for a foolish need

Such a waste of talent, they said
It's easier to blame everyone else
Than to admit he's the reason

Overcoming the odds he'll never do
Without the assistance of a clue
Content with the gift he's abused

A blessed man carrying a heavy sin
There's no telling where he's been
    Or the horrors he's seen
But still he sees fit to destroy
Everything he once held so dear
    All for a foolish need

He's never once said grace at the table
But always the first to help when able
A contradiction to the timeless rule

A blessed man carrying a heavy sin
There's no telling where he's been
    Or the horrors he's seen
But still he sees fit to destroy
Everything he once held so dear
    All for a foolish need

Very interesting,Justin. You have your own style that I'll keep an eye on!You may be that "sleeper" that could become the next Lou Reed.(Or fill in the name that most appeals to you!)

Well, I see myself as more of a songwriter than a performer, so I'd be happy just to sell one of my songs. As it is, I have a whole library to fall back on, but I'm always going back and updating my older material.

"Or fill in the name that most appeals to you." That would be Keith Urban, Nikki Sixx, or Adam Gontier.

I always considered Lou Reed more of a songwriter than a performer.

Fair enough! That's why I don't understand why Chad Kroeger gets so much hate. You may not like his voice, but he's responsible for writing a lot of hit songs. Tim McGraw's "Southern Voice" being a good example.
