Default Tie Down The Demon (1/18/14)

    Tie down the demon,
    Do not let it free.
It took so long to isolate,
    It's coming back for me.

    My time is running short,
    I guess I better run.
Cause when the demon is finally free,
I'd hate to miss the fun.

How did I become like this?
I've come so far from home.
    Discovered secrets in myself
    While traveling alone.
But now it's all catching up,
The past is coming to haunt.
And though I learned not to fear,
It's fear that I was taught.
Tie down the demon before it's too late.

    Tie down the demon,
I can't bear it to escape,
But no matter how far I run,
I know what is at stake.

When you came into my bedroom,
    Just to hold me close,
The door behind you was open,
    Letting in my ghosts.

How did I become like this?
I've come so far from home.
    Discovered secrets in myself
    While traveling alone.
But now it's all catching up,
The past is coming to haunt.
And though I learned not to fear,
It's fear that I was taught.
Tie down the demon before it's too late.

Wonderful! A haunting, hypnotic song that deserves haunting, hypnotic music. I'm thinking of a lot of percussion and a funky gospel-like piano like in Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones (a gospel choir singing: "Tie Down the Demon"). Or maybe something dark and moody like Japan's Ghosts.

Never thought of it like that, but I dig it! Sooo many ideas popping up in my head now. Thanks Peter!

I was singing these lyrics........by accident!Usually when I "judge" a song(by just Lyrics)I give it my "approval" if I can sing it.That means,I have to figure out a melody to go with it.This I started singing simply by reading the words!I likes it a lot!

Very interesting. I love the symbolism and the flow. Good songwriting there.
