And that video in particular! I don't think I've ever heard that song sound So Good!

For that deeelicious set of four super-hall-of-fame tunes, a Blue Ribbon for the "Rocketmann".

    _____________

Dittos on your picks too Amethystos, That's a helluva nice trio of songs!
    _____________

Ok my turn. A double-shot of one of my favorite groups... as well as a big favorite of a certain "rocker chick" who hangs out around here?

    Heart!! <3

Melissa Etheridge was India Arie's inspiration behind the song 'I Am Not My Hair'....a song that was originally written as a duet with P!nk

    I am not my hair
    I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
    I am not my hair
    I am not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

4-time Grammy winner...R&B/Motown yea, not mainline R&R, but Motown runs so deep in Rock music you just can't ignore it

P!nk is one of the greatest vocalists out there and this song shows it as well as any that I know...and she does NOT allow pitch correction to be used in her studio recordings....

    Default Kaoma - Dançando Lambada

Sad to say, this is the best I can do today; a repeat of what I just posted in 'mood' ...

Circa 1990, when interest in the Lambada was peaking and Kaoma very successfully rode that wave:

    Nice video.

Really? Didn't know that, although I could guess by her live performances...

Thanks! It happens about once a year on average. But this time I had to go to a physical therapist to get some "serious" treatment. That ended up being a big heavy pad with moist heat and electric pulse. That felt so good, I just wanted to lie there all day.

I used to "argue" (even with myself) about whether or not the decade of the 1980s was all that great in terms of Rock 'n' Roll. But it was "all that great" in one sense (at least): I remember a number of songs that were transcendental in some way; having some quality that made the mind drift beyond the music itself... somewhere "above" the physicality of wherever I happened to be. This was one of those songs.

This song, a natural rocker, had to wait a long long time (as far as I know) for a big-time R&R band to do it justice on a cover. Cheap Trick, 1978:

There's no need to argue about it.
On July 21 1987, a more than legendary LP was released, there was NOTHING like this before, to my ears that was the beginning of a new era ....
