But yeah... Suzi was great, but I agree with you. Joan Jett took it to the top and then blew the damn roof off.

As I meant to emphasize up front: If there should arise any dispute about whether a song is Rock Music or not, I would refer to any commonly recognized music chart of the past 50-60 years.

    _______

Billboard, top 100 songs of 1982: #12 came from one of the greatest composers of our era, Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou, aka Vangelis. From the Academy-award-winning soundtrack:

In point of fact, I've never been all that crazy about The Who. THIS is my kind of Rock Opera:

So Freakin' EPIC it gives me goosebumps.

All these posts about Joan Jett; she truly deserves a place in rock's pantheon!

    Better late than never ....

And of course I disagree about Vangelis. He can't be considered a composer of rock in my eyes.

The following is a typical reaction for Zeppelin and Jefferson Airplane ....

Amethystos I had to look up both Dio and Gallagher. Ty for that, I'm getting a great education from you guys

College days, growing up on the edge of southern USA, of course I picked on Southern Rock. Right off campus there was a really popular lunch spot that turned dance club on weekends, and there was one local band that could really throw down. Songs like this ALWAYS packed the dance floor.....

Ok ok, I've been tagged-teamed, I give up.

    Zeppelin and Airplane:

From 2:30 forward, this song could be classed as Southern Rock, Country Rock, or even Rockabilly:

Saw this song title in "Recommendations" and couldn't pass it up.

I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away

Don't feel bad, I know that you were searching for some compatriot of mine but I belive rock's only language is English.
And yes totally agree about Boston and Eagles, they're rock monsters to my eyes....
