First song I've written in quite a while, not sure how I feel about it yet. Thanks ahead of time for reading!
Everything is blurry, spinning in circles,
Thoughts are running wild and I can’t breathe.
I close my eyes and imagine your touch,
Reality strikes me like a match.
You’re gone, disappeared,
Like a sunset, you don’t stay long.
My sheets are wrinkled and your pillow is warm,
But your body is nowhere to be found.
Staying grounded is hard
When the ground below is moving.
You thought I was captivated by you,
But it wasn’t me you were fooling.
When I said I wanted to change,
you claimed you’d do the same,
But then you left.
You left, and you aren’t coming back.
Sometimes, I wonder how you’re doing, but
it’s 6am and I’m having trouble sleeping,
the storm outside is brewing
The thoughts in my head, screaming.
It’s too late to fight,
For what I didn’t really want in the first place.
I realize I was lonely,
Only craving a warm embrace.
Staying grounded is hard
When the ground below is moving.
You thought I was captivated by you,
But it wasn’t me you were fooling.
When I said I wanted to change,
you claimed you’d do the same,
But then you left.
You left, and you aren’t coming back.
As the flames burns on,
I’m sleeping better now.
Without you.
This flame keeps burning,
Right through you.
When I said I wanted to change,
you claimed you’d do the same,
But then you left.
You left, don’t come back.
Staying grounded is hard
When the ground below is moving.
You thought I was captivated by you,
But it wasn’t me you were fooling.
I like the way the song changes direction. I think this would be a good song for Alanis Morissette if she were still making music. (She may be but I haven't heard anything from her in quite awhile.)
I think the best test of music is if a piece gets an emotional response from someone. I definitely connected with your work because I have been in this situation and it captures what I have felt, but couldn't put into words. The emotion is definitely there. I love it!
