Dear Friend (1/1/15)

**First writing of the new year, dedicated to a very close friend of mine.

Dear friend, your eyes are clouded,
You do not foresee the consequences
Of the words you are shouting.

I cannot protect you from pain,
But I can be who you relieves you.
I cannot keep your demons restrained,
But I can help combat them.

When you’re feeling down,
Lean on me.
When you want to give in,
Lean on me.
When you need a friend,
Call on me.
And I’ll be right there.
Yeah, I’ll be right there.

Dear friend, you have too much to offer,
Than to settle with what will hurt you,
When you could do so much better.

I won’t let them talk about you
And get away with it.
Just know I’ll always come through,
Even if you’re the one talking sh!t.

When you’re feeling down,
Lean on me.
When you want to give in,
Lean on me.
When you need a friend,
Call on me.
And I’ll be right there.
Yeah, I’ll be right there.

When the day is done,
And you go running back to him,
I’ll be waiting patiently
To save you again.

But I know when I need you,
You’re a phone call away.
When I’m feeling down,
I’ll lean on you.
When I want to give in,
I’ll lean on you.
When you need a friend,
I’ll call on you.
And you’ll be right there,
Yeah, you’ll be right there.
