Default Thread for Coincidences (Cases of Great Songwriters Thinking Alike)

Listen very carefully from 1:12 - 1:18 in this clip of the 1967 "hit" version of the famous song "Sound of Silence" by the US songwriters Simon and Garfunkel

Sound of Silence (Simon and Garfunkel) -1967
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPo6v0KhBdw
    1:12 - 1:18

(Note - this clip is NOT the original 1964 version from an album that "flopped" - the record company added drums and electric guitar to the original 1964 "acoustic" version and released it as a single without Simon and Garfunkel even knowing.)

Now listen very carefully from 1:10 - 1:15 in this clip of the 1971 song Όπου ο εγωισμός with music by Χατζηνάσιος:

    Όπου ο εγωισμός - 1971
    Στίχοι: Τάσος Οικονόμου
    Μουσική: Γιώργος Χατζηνάσιος
    http://www.stixoi.info/stixoi.php?in...&song_id=14486
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCPaWfqYyCs
    1:10 - 1:15

    Amazing, isn't it?

    BUT - please note!!!!!

I am NOT accusing Χατζηνάσιος of anything here.

Great songwriters often come up with the same musical phrase twice, completely on their own.

And also, sometimes a songwriter will use a phrase that he's heard before, without realizing that he is doing so.

Can you think of any cases like this involving two songs - one Greek and the other Greek or non-Greek?

Lana Del Ray Video games and Eleni Vitali.
Somewhere was a discussion about this and in yesterday I came across this again and I found this Video Clip, where you listen to both.
(What a coincidence I came across this, just when you start this thread)

    Hi Tahira -

    You wrote:

No - no coincidence. You and I are just two entangled quantum-theoretic particles:

and we just have to figure out how to get back together after being separated for a long time at a great distance.

Regarding the "song-coincidence" which you posted, it was very interesting to read and to compare the songs.

But don't you think you should have posted a warning about the comments below the clip?

Some of those comments were really not nice!

In these two songs, notice the alternation between slow and fast tempo. Also, the songs are somewhat similar thematically, and even similar melodically in some places.

Those Were the Days - 1962

    Αποκοιμήθηκα - 1977

Note - the most famous version of "Those Were the Days" is the 1968 "hit" by Mary Hopkins.

The way she does the "fast" part of the song is very similar to the "fast" part in Αποκοιμήθηκα.

I know the Mary Hopkins Version, it was very popular in Germany that time.
Unfortunatelly I could not open the greek Video Clip :-(
But I found greek and german covers of "Those were the days"

I have to add something about your question why I didn't mention that there were some bad comments underneath one Video Clip:
I see bad comments so many times! And meanwhile I stopped reading the comments underneath; I only look if maybe lyrics are availble but I do not read the rest. I only wonder, why the People who upload a Clip in YouTube, do not delete bad comments or deactivate the possiblity to write something underneath.

Gentlemen - I do not mind flirting with both of you

Back to music and the topic: I have read a book from a german physisict about conincedences and the Quantum theory. So it#s true, there exist scientific papers about this.

"Gentlemen - I do not mind flirting with both of you"

Wow! It looks like we are on the way to a great remake of

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055032/

    right here at "AllTheLyrics".

But there's one problem ... I don't know how to say "menage a trois" in German.

    Do you?

    But of course, Tahira!

The script for the remake is already written that way.

    Look, right here:

Steve (whispering in Tahira's ear): You are so young and beautiful ...
    Tahira: mmmmmmm ....
David (whispering in Tahira's other ear): Yes, you are so young and beautiful ....
    Tahira: mmmmmmm, mmmmMMMM .....

    See?

The part is "tailor-made" for you ...
