So yesterday (Sunday, 1/11 in the US), I took an early flight from Nashville to Philadelphia so that I could drive up from Philadelphia to New York City to see my niece

perform in a showcase at

The drive is about 1 1/2 hours once you get on the New Jersey turnpike, and while I was driving, I was checking the FM stations to see if there were still any that played international music with Greek segments. There used to be several in the NYC area many years ago, but I didn't think there were any left.

So I was surprised to find this NON-PROFIT station on the air:

http://aktina.org/

and enjoyed the segment that they were doing on Tsitanis - some songs plus some bits of his biography.

That segment was followed by a segment on Cyprus - in particular, the history of a little village which has been occupied by Turkish forces since 1974. (I had forgotten that Cyprus is still a little "Asia Minor", since it is not often in the US news any more.)

Anyway, I am not connected with "aktina.org" in any way, but I think they are worth support from anyone interested in keeping Greek music/culture "on the air".

So if you agree, you can donate through their website.
