    Lyrics remembered are: The Joneses live on top of the hill and you live on the bottom. Everything you ever wanted in life you can bet the Joneses got 'em. Twice a year Mrs Jones goes shopping to buy a fancy gown she wears them once.... That is all that is remembered, any help is appreciated!!!! Tried every wich way in google and other engines but nada!

    atmaster, thanks for getting back to me. Do not know the Genre. It is a song my mother is looking for and it is driving her crazy. She believes it is a woman singing (possibly) and it maybe from the 50s, 60's or early seventies. She didn't think it was country but isn't willing to rule it out as yet. And thanks for the suggestion , but definitely isn't the Temptations song.

    "The Joneses" by John D. Loudermilk (I could not find a free sample or lyrics; not to be confused with his other song called "The Jones")
    "Keeping Up With the Joneses" by Faron Young with Margie Singleton
    "Keeping Up With the Joneses" by Gracie Fields
    Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

    Can your mom remember anything else--e.g., did she hear it on radio/tv ...or ?? My guess is it may have been country, but if it's from 1950-1970s, country was pretty twangy back then. Another clue: could have been a folk song and might be harder to find. Some old folk songs re-recorded from passed-down lyrics are hard to track. Will keep looking.
