The translation of "Sessiz Gemi" was most dissapointing. When translating poems, it is not wise to translate word to word. A translator can make changes without losing the essence of the poem. Here is my translation. I hope it make better sense.

THE SILENT SHIP

It is time to lift anchor from time
A ship leaves the harbor, destination without a sign.

Silently it travels, as if it did not have any passengers
Neither a hand nor a hankerchief is waved at her departure.

At the harbor, the ones who are left behind are saddened
With teary eyes they watch the horizon that's blackened.

Helpless hearts! This is not the last ship departing!
And the seperation will not be the last mourning of life.

The ones who loved and was loved on earth wait in vain
Not knowing their loved ones will not be back again.

Countless people have left and each one must be content
For no one, after so many years, returned from their voyage yet.
