Trying to help a friend identify late 60's/early 70's rock band song

Most likely not a real popular song (he stated it was on the "b side" and I'm not even sure his recollection of lyrics is accurate considering he was 10 years old. He thinks these lines are in the song but I can't find anywhere online-

"I've seen it happen"
"With stars in her (or your) eyes"
"Well I'll tell you something"
"Hurt you like before"

Any help would be appreciated
