I've been looking into different staffing agencies for my next travel assignment, and they all seem to promise great support. But I'm wondering how much of that actually continues once you sign a contract and start working. I've heard stories about recruiters being really helpful at first and then becoming difficult to reach. What are some signs that an agency genuinely supports its travelers rather than just trying to fill positions?

For me, the biggest sign is how an agency handles questions before and after you accept an assignment. A good recruiter should be transparent about pay, facility expectations, and potential challenges, not just push you toward the first available job. I'd also look for support with credentialing, licensing, and housing. If you're exploring allied health travel opportunities, tlc allied is worth checking out because they offer recruiter assistance and practical support throughout the assignment process. I'd always ask how they handle unexpected issues before committing.

I think consistency matters more than promises. Some recruiters are excellent during the hiring process but much less responsive once you're working. I usually pay attention to how quickly they answer difficult questions and whether they're willing to admit when they don't know something. It's also worth speaking with other travelers who have worked with the agency. Their experiences can tell you a lot more than the information on a company's website.
