    It was titled "99 Luftballons" at it original German recording. It was then titled "99 Red Balloons" for english language release. It Became a major hit of German recording artist Gabriele Susanne Kerner (aka Nena). The writers of the song were Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen (music), Carlo Karges (German lyrics) and Kevin McAlea (English lyrics).

    Reminds me of a test my teacher gave in high school. Everyone in the class seemed to be finished before I could answer a third of the questions. When I glanced up at the top of page, I found the following instructions:
    Do not answer any questions.
    Put your pencil down.
    Turn your paper face-down.
    Sit quitely with your hands folded.
    Wait for additional instructions.
    Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

    Someone needs to go back and repost the original question. To paraphrase, the question asked who wrote the song 99 red balloons. That's why I went to the extent of including the writers. Something definitely happened to the original post. It appears shaunflannery went in and edited the original post to the extent of title and content. My partners in crime Mumbles and atmaster then responded to the edited or new question; not the original one. Though they're not 100% accurate, check-out the post, edit, etc. times. I raise you 2 hundred.
