help please

i've been trying to think of the name and artist of this song for the past week all i know is its from the late 90's...i cant think of the lyrics but i know its a female singer and she kinda talks along with sorta slow music that if i remember correctly may be a piano and she goes into singing then talking again...please help its really bothering me that i cant remember

The only song that comes to mind is Jill Scott - "across my mind" good song, but not from the late 90's... give it a shot
