Default Bu Mudur by Nil Karaibrahimgil

Just a few points to make or give alternates:

Kalbim vurulmuş mudur? ~~ Is my heart smitten? ( like to have a crush)

Çarpıp durmuş mudur? ~~ Did it skip beats? (or tachycardia???)

Bu mudur? ~~ Was it this?

Yorulmuş mudur? ~~ Has it been jaded (also possible tiring or done in)?

Kayip giderken ne güzeldi ~~ Lost (or missing) en route, how nice.
(A common expression most often understood thus.
Here, it seems to be used sarcastically. No stars.)

Senin kalbin boş mudur? ~~ Is your heart bare?
Çalmas evde kimse yok mudur? ~~ If I knock, is nobody home?

Nefesler tutulmuş mudur? ~~ Is it a long-winded engagement?
Atmosferde aşk yok mudur? ~~ Is it an ambiance void of love (or a nonexistent love)?

Buharlaşıp uçmuş mudur? ~~ Is it how steam flies?

    Dibdidududu mudur? ~~ ?????????????????????????????

No, no no. I have listened over and over again to Nil's song and I clealy heard her say, "Dip dede duru mudur?" Being: "Is it clear (or limpid) as the lowliest old geezer?"

Hey, I hear she's known to say nonsensical things now and then just for the hell of it or for irony or sarcasm. Then again it might have been just coincidence that her humming or trilling up at the sky came out that way.

Hey, no worries, mate. You should have seen my first attempt at translating the song. It was sort of funny.

Yeah, sure, that's fine. However, that's not what she said.

What do you mean there's no such thing? The words "dip," "dede" and "duru" are all valid Turkish words. Hey, maybe she only intended to make prettty little noises there and had no intended meaning. I don't know but those are the sounds that came out of her mouth. That's all I meant to say. **shrugs**

Hey, my first attempt to translate the song was sort of humorous. For instance, I used "kalbur" where it should have been "kalbin" and "çallçene" instead of "çalsam" which yielded, "Is this your empty riddle? Is nobody home to babble to?"

    You're getting annoyed over this???

What is your problem? If you constantly allow yourself to be irritated over trifles, then you're going to find life quite troubling indeed.

I never questioned the meaning of "dibdidududu" or its being unmeaningful. All I said was that's not what she said.
    ...
    Dibdidududu mudur? ~~ ?????????????????????????????

No, no no. I have listened over and over again to Nil's song and I clealy heard her say, "Dip dede duru mudur?" ...

Look, I already know that such links as you posted have it as "Dibdidududu mudur?" but that's not what I heard. I don't care what some person I don't know put it as. I've listened to the song several times and my ears hear the sounds "dip dede duru." Why don't you try listening sometime?

"Dede" doesn't always specifically mean "grandpa" but it can also just be like calling somebody an old geezer or an old fart. Like, if I address someone with "hey, grampa," I'm not saying he's my grandfather but rather I'm saying he's very old. Also, Nil is known for using nonsense phrases on occasion for the hell of it or to jibe.

However, maybe it wasn't meant to say anything at all.

If no meaning was intended for those sounds, that's fine. I don't care but that's still what I heard. Is that okay with you?

    ???

You need to chill out. You're far too excitable.

I don't care if it's meaningful or not. It's irrelevant. You're the one who is insistent on one being more meaningful than the other. Not me.

I know this comes like a little too late, but before, I could barely speak Turkish, so I couldn't quite translate it.

@ Marmaris: you told Orinoco_Flow to "just search the lyrics before talk!!". My advice to you: learn a language before translating something into it. Your English is terrible and my eyes nearly bled while reading your translation and the rest of the text. Also, take a Valium or something before posting anything here, you seem to be really nervous.

@ Orinoco_Flow: LOL man, yes, those misunderstandings really remind me of my problems with other songs. I don't know how it is for you, but for me, it starts feeling funny after a while - during that while, I feel ****ing stupid, though XD

So, my attempt at the translation:

    ===============================================
    Love, love, love.

    Has my heart been shot?
    Did it beat and stop?
    Is this it?

In modern times, has love got tired?
    Is this it?

When it kindled and went off, how beautiful it was.
How beautiful it was, how beautiful it was.
When it slided and went, how beautiful it was.
How beautiful it was, how beautiful it was.

    Is your heart empty?
If I were to knock on the door, would there be no one home?
    Is this it?

In modern times, has love dibdidududu?
    Is this it?

    Is there no breathing?
Is there no love in the ambience?
    Is this it?

    In modern times, has love
    evaporated and flown away?
    Is this it?
    =================================================

That's it. I wonder if someone will even get to read this... XD take care!
