Wow! so much information! I just signed up today simply for the fact that I was looking for a Greek song’s translation. I studied the alphabet this summer after I came from Greece…but I would definitely use some help! I know how to say “I love you” though , and some more. I’m listening to Greek music very often and it really bothers me that I can’t comprehend what’s being said. Maybe you guys, Maria or so… are familiar with the songs “Mono gia Sena” by Vertis, “Deutera Vrady” by Dionisis Markis, “Mh Fygeis” by Antonis Remos…uhm…any of these; if by any chance you have the translation… or recommend some other songs…I would truly appreciate it?(I do have a whole list though)

    Dear friends,
This thread is a real treasure. The quality of the information and the discussions following them are priceless. Thank you very much for that. This is my first time I registered in a forum simply because I couldn't stand against the desire to be a part of it.
I have been trying to learn Greek language for 15 years. When I was 16, I found one of these "Theach Yourself" series in my father's library. It was Modern Greek for English speakers. I was getting prepared for the college exams and everything other than the lessons were very "interesting" those days. Thanks to that mood, I took the book and started to look at the alphabet just as dear Maria_gr did on her schedule here. Do you believe in love at first sight? This was what happened to me. Since that day I have been learning Greek, reading about Greek culture, listening to Greek music, Greek history, finding about the history of the Greek soccer teams, etc. This is my passion in life.
The zenith of this effort was crowned one day when I finally managed, by chance, to talk to legendary Haroula on the phone. I consider myself very lucky for that.
It is very difficult to improve when you don't have enough sources, books, dictionnaries, etc. to go through in your native language. I have always used English as a tool there. But it is never enough.
It has been a pleasure to follow the lessons here. It's been only 2 days for me since I discovered it and I cannot read anything else on the net.
    Euharisto para poli!

I can't agree with you more, antigoni. I love all things greek and this is a recent discovery for me though I have always been intrigued by greek culture and mythology as a child. I truly belive maria is doing a wonderful job and I'm sure all the Greeks are very proud of her!

    Efharisto Maria!

Well ki means and. When the following word begins with a vowel we use ki, but when it begins with a consonant we use kai.

    Ex. Kai si ki ego.
Άνθρωποι τύχης είδωλον επλάσαντο, πρόφασιν ιδίης αβουλίης.

Yes Panselinos is great. She knows so many things. At the beginning I thought she was Greek, but then I realized that she isn't, I got a strong shock... Bravo kopela mou!
