Default What is this mellow song?

    Hi,

Trying to work out a song I heard recently:
    - mellow and relaxed
    - lyrics contained, I think "ball and chain", "walking hand in hand", "walk so far", maybe something about 'through the night' as well, but not sure
    - chorus had a sombre chord sequence. I think the words were simply 'na na na' (or 'la la la') - bit like in Hey Jude, but not as upbeat!
    - heard last week at a gym in the UK. Don't know if it's a British artist, but that it was played in the gym means it's probably quite new

Googling the above words in the lyrics gets me nowhere.

    All help is much appreciated!

    Thanks.

Try "HAND IN HAND" by The Cynics

    They're walking hand in hand
They don't see me I'm not part of the plan
They've fallen so much in love
Fit together hand in a glove

They're part of the factory part of the big plan
Mess up your mind and steal your freedom

    They're walking down the street
They've got each other they don't need me
You can't break that ball and chain
Feel no pleasure Feel no pain

They're part of the factory part of the big plan
Mess up your mind and steal your freedom

That's the way my story goes
    We met down in Mexico
A hot night on the burning sand
Then we left hand in hand

Now we're part of the factory part of the big plan
Mess up your mind and steal your freedom
Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

Anthony Hamilton has a song called "ball and chain." I don't recall the song at all though I do have it downloaded. Weird. I also find it interesting that a gym would play slow, mellow music...
"And the music shall set you free..."

Sorry, don't think it's either of those two, certainly not judging by the lyrics. and listening to the cynics on their myspace page, it would be a very radical departure if it was them...

Agree that it's odd to play that in a gym, so can only imagine it was played cos it was new and trendy and all that (they've been known to play Coldplay, for heaven's sake...). so maybe the lyrics will appear on the net in time - don't know how long these things usually take.

    thanks for your help!
