Looking for the title & artist of a ballad that I heard while I was in the Gulf during Desert Shield & Desert Storm.
It was a story of a soldier stuck in a bad way, alone, pinned down, and fearing death. Then another lone soldier came and fought with him to save themselves. Together they ended up finding their way back to the rear.
The soldier who was saved came to discover that the soldier who saved him was actually the ghost/spirit of a soldier who had died that day who's last wish was to save someone.
It is a great ballad. If I recall correctly, it had a similar feeling to an Tennesee Earnest Ford type of ballad.
I have been trying to find it since my return stateside some 14+ years ago. Please advise if you have any ideas or input. Please email me - twulff at flyadi dot com. Thanks in advance!
