I have a new request too. I think this song by Nora Istrefi has wonderful lyrics. It is a poem in itself, or that is what I think. With very little words she creates a whole atmosphere. You can just feel the despair of a woman who has lost her love, but tries desperately to appear strong to the outside world. I think I understand it rather well, except for the last three lines, but I have been wrong before, so I would appreciate it if you could correct any errors I might have made.

I have some problem translating Ani cka, which I guess means: I don't care, doesn't mean much to me, or other similar phrases.

You did a really good job translating. I just fixed some parts up for you, I translated the lines word for word(literally)

Thank you, exactly what I wanted. I missed the ' money' and the last verses of course are very important. Some subtleties about the dress, and the thunder are also much clearer now. The lines about the aspirin just killed me when I first understood their meaning. As I see it the woman in the story is on the brink of bursting into tears when she says to herself: it is nothing really, I don't feel miserable and sad, aspirin is all I need. Wonderful.

And then 'shteret dhe thahet'. Are those two different verbs? Do they both mean 'dry up'?

kjamet doesnt mean world literally. i dont think theres a word in english for it ..the meaning is just pretty much "who cares its not the end of the world"
if someone says
"i lost my shoe" (lol just an example) someone might say "s'behet kjameti"
meaning its not the end of the world.

to be honest im not a fan of tallava music at all. and i dont like that albanians sing it (especially at weddings).

The word kijamet, comes from from the turkish word "kıyamet", the exact english translation for this is doomsday. That is why the line translates to "it shall not be the end of the world" but an exact translation of "s'behet kijameti." is "(not like) doomsday will happen."

You use bota when you are refering to the world, or when you are comparing the world to something. For example phrases such as: "Me e mira e ksaj bote" - the best of this world "Bota eshte e vogel" - the world is small
You use kijamet when refering to a tragedy, or when you are being dramatic and exaggerating. For example phrase such as: "mu duk se u be kijameti" - it seemed to me as if doomsday had come. Or when someone witnesses something very horrible and shocking happen they may say "erdhi kijameti or kijameti vjen" - meaning doomsday has come/ is coming (this phrase is supposed to be exaggerated)

And then 'shteret dhe thahet'. Are those two different verbs? Do they both mean 'dry up'?

I do not know what shteret means, I do not think that is the correct word, maybe here was a mistake in the lyrics, sorry. Thahet means dry up.


And one more thing: how would you translat 'Ani çka' literally?

I would translate ani cka, to whatever, whats the big deal. It is really is a versatile phrase. An exact translation is "anyway, what is there?"

@Balkaneuro: 'me e mira e ksaj bote' comes straight out of a Meda song, but I can't remember which one right now. I wondered about it before. It will come back I'm sure. I listen to Meda quite frequently. Oh, I got it: 'Do t'afrohem'.

One thing I would like to ask: in the second line of the refrain I seem to hear an extra word, something like 'se i vetem ketu (xx) jam'. Any idea what (xx)-word could fit in there? Or am I only imagining something?

It's funny how hard it is for me to hear exactly what is said in a song. Until I read your post I never noticed the 'këtu'. I only heard 'tu'. What you said about 'dy fjalë' explains a lot to me. I have wondered before about the phrase 'dy tre fjalë'. It is used on many occasions (Menushi, Meda, and others that I don't remember right now), and I had a sense that there was more to it than just the literal translation. Now I understand: 'dy fjalë'='te dua', 'tre fjalë'='të dua ty'!

Yesterday I discovered that another one of my favourites (Shko tani) is also one of Sabiani's songs. Until then I thought, erroneously, that it was a song of Artur Yzeiri. Unfortunately I have only a very low-quality version of it (40 kbit mp3 is realy nog enough). Do you per chance know where I could find a better quality mp3?
