"cokertmen" doesn't ring any bells... (well.. possibly because my bells hardly ever ring when it comes to folk music.. 'cos i never listen to folk) Nevertheless, there is a very well-known folk song called "cokertme", I thought you might be talking about this song. Look at the lyrics, if this is THE one then someone will translate it or i can translate too if noone else does!...

If this is not the right one, i think it might help you to get a faster response if you find the lyrics and paste them here...

    Çökertmeden çıktım da Halil'im
    Aman başım selamet
    Bitez'de yalısına varmadan Halil'im
    Aman koptu kıyamet

    Arkadaşım İbrahim Çavuş
    Allahıma emanet

    Burasıda Asbat değil Halil'im
    Aman Bitez yalısı
    Yüreğime acı saldı
    Dostlar kurşun yarası

    Gidelim gidelim Halil'im
    Çökertmeye varalım
    Kolcular gelince Halil'im
    Nerelere kaçalım

    Teslim olmayalım Halil'im
    Aman kurşun saçalım

    Burasıda Asbat değil Halil'im
    Aman Bitez yalısı
    Yüreğime acı saldı
    Dostlar kurşun yarası

    Güvertede gezer iken
    Aman kunduram kaydı
    Çakır da gözlü Gülsümümü
    Çerkes kaymakam aldı

    Kaymakam baskısı a canım
    Aman aldı yürüdü

    Burası da Asbat değil Halil'im
    Aman Bitez yalısı
    Yüreğime acı saldı
    Dostlar kurşun yarası
"I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it"

    Çökertmeden çıktım da Halil'im
    I escaped the fight Halil*
    Aman başım selamet
For God's sake! I am relieved.
    Bitez'de yalısına varmadan Halil'im
Before i made it to the Bitez shore
    Aman koptu kıyamet
Dear God! The battle broke out

    Arkadaşım İbrahim Çavuş
    My friend Sergeant Ibrahim
    Allahıma emanet
    may God protect you.

    Burasıda Asbat değil Halil'im
    Here is not Asbat**, Halil

    Here is the Bitez Shore
    Yüreğime acı saldı
My heart is taken over by pain

    Lets go, Halil
    Çökertmeye varalım
    Lets reach the battle field
    Kolcular gelince Halil'im
    When the watchmen come, Halil
    Nerelere kaçalım
    Where shall we run to

    Teslim olmayalım Halil'im
    Lets not surrender Halil
    Aman kurşun saçalım
    Lets bombard them with bullets

    Burasıda Asbat değil Halil'im
Here is not a nice walkabout Halil
    Aman Bitez yalısı
    Here is the Bitez shore
    Yüreğime acı saldı
My heart is taken over by pain
    Dostlar kurşun yarası
due to a bullet wound, my friends

    Güvertede gezer iken
As I was walking at the deck of the ship
    Aman kunduram kaydı
    My shoe slipped
    Çakır da gözlü Gülsümümü
My Gulsum*** who had greish blue eyes
    Çerkes kaymakam aldı
Got married to the Circassian Governer

    Kaymakam baskısı a canım
And the pressure from the Governer
    Aman aldı yürüdü
    got more and more extended

    Burasıda Asbat değil Halil'im
Here is not a nice walkabout Halil
    Aman Bitez yalısı
    Here is the Bitez shore
    Yüreğime acı saldı
My heart is taken over by pain
    Dostlar kurşun yarası
due to a bullet wound, my friends

    * It is a Turkish male name, here the singer refers to him as "my Halil" which probably means that they are either close friends or even they might be related.
** Here it is very unlikely that the reference is made to the Lebanese extremist Sunni Asbats, I believe here the word used should be 'asphalt' and the poet means that where he is, is a battle field, and not a pleasant walkabout.
*** Turkish female name. The poet's lover.

Default Different words in Ozdemir Erdogan version

Instead of losing his girlfriend, something happened to his silk handkerchief, or so I think he says "ipekli beyaz mendilimi" etc.
Can anybody look for these and translate? Thanks.

    Red face Asbat

I think the word is not "Asbat" or "asphalt". It most certainly refers to "Aspat", another beach on the Mugla Peninsula, down the coast from Bodrum.
