    Maybe youŽll give some examples?
You mean - смотреть - посмотреть
    говорить - поговорить
    and so on?

Can anyone suggest me a way to learn Russian without a tutor?(I haven't the money for that sort of thing) I have a very basic knowledge of the language at the moment, and I'd love to learn more. But a question I have is, when do you use свой as apposed to the other words like мой, твой, and so on? Also can anyone explain to me how words like that decline? They seem to just randomly throw out свою and твою, and I've been given no explanation as to why. Thanks in advance.

If you want a good grounding in Russian grammar, I always highly suggest this book. Mind you, I don't have a ton of Russian resources, but the book is inexpensive and explains things quite well. If you push yourself to learn vocab as you go along, you should have an intermediate skill level when you finish the book. (Now I should take my own advice and get back to studying...)

The Master Russian Forum is a large community of native Russian speakers, and those learning the language... but what's cool is they have a forum devoted to audio clips (among many other useful forums). So if you need to hear something specific, someone can record it for you. (You can ask for language help here too, since the people on this board are nicer. But, shh! don't tell the members on the MR forum I said that.)

Compared to the Asian languages I studied, and Estonian which I plan on studying next, Russian seems like a breeze to me.

I tried to look through all of the posts for this link, but if I missed it somewhere please let me know and I'll remove it from this post.

This is one of my favorite sites for studying Russian. It has a lot of basic information, and audio to go with all of it.

Anyway, I hope this will help someone.

I like finnish language a lot, and recently I've heard estonian which sounds so much like finnish (yeah I know they belong to the same group of languages but so does hungarian that is again much different that these two) so it would be interesting to learn it. But I have no time with all the languages I'm learning at the moment.
