Need help with Old School Jam that sings about the core getting hotter on the earth:

There's this old school song, that I heard on the radio, that sings about the hot center core of the earth.
1.) Song first starts out really slow. When you hear the beginning of the song, it sounds like that the song is going to be a slow jam.
2.) All of a sudden the song turns into an up-beated song, right after you think, that the song is going to be a slow jam.
3.) These girls sing about some core getting hotter in the center of the earth.
4.) They also sing about the world coming to an end.
This is the best that I can do with the lyrics.
The genre of this song sounds like Rhythm & Blues kind of like a girls teen rock song, but not heavy metal.

I found out that the song is called Centipede by Rebbie Jackson.
Since the song is called Centipede, It would be interesting to also hear Buckner & Garcia's version of Centipede.
