Talking Cambridge Footlights Revue - The British Movement Song

    Hi everybody. Please help me!!

I need the lyrics of "The British Movement Song" from the 80's BBC tv-show "The Cambridge Footlights Revue", a show with Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Emma Thompson and Tony Slattery.

I really need it for an important university research...so if anyone can find this lyrics...he is "the king of web" !!!

I know it's hard, but this is the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv-qpH8VtoQ

    Thank you.

    Hello!

It must be way too late by now, but I answer your message all the same. Just like you, I didn't manage to find the lyrics on the Internet, but I finally managed to grasp almost the whole song, although some words remain a mystery...
I don't know if you really need the help of a poor little French girl, but I suppose it could be uselful to other people. And above all, if you've understood the words I couldn't find, please tell me, it's so frustrating !

Here I go (between brackets : the sounds that I heard that don't make sense...) :

Come, join us in the noblest of causes :
    The battle for national improvement,
The [greeking] of leather and uniforms
Is the [h?]aim of our British movement.

We promise you riches and prosperity,
Employment for the British working man,
We promise you holidays in America
    On exchange with the Ku Klux Klan ;

Eliminate the Paki, exterminate the Blackie,
Pull out this disease by the root,
    The British movement government
    Would repatriate the immigrants
To the tramp of Union Jack boots...

Children in football grounds and classrooms
Are berated (parading?) in tiny rank and pile
    Incited to multiracial hairgrew,
Exhorted by the [wolcraji^^] Ah-a-a-a-a-a-a (Sie Heil!)

Imagine our society with skinheads roaming [walopri]
    And not a pair of thick lips in sight ;
Fumigate the Underground and sterilize the cricket grounds,
White hope (hoop?) and white elephant,
    White wash and white Christmas,
White horse and white rich and white poor...
    White dirt and white liquorice
    White helmet, white truncheons,
    White face and white willy,
    White law !

I hope it will be a little useful for anybody... I repeat it, if you have suggestions, please let me know, maybe together, we'll finally manage to understand what they sing^^ !
By the way, what sort of studies requires your knowing the lyrics of this song ? It interests me a lot !

    Bye,

    Flo

    Talking Thank you anyhow

Thank you Flo for posting this song, but i've already found it!

I know that it can be curious, but we're Italian and everyone is curious!!

Anyway, during a preparatory course for an internship at ONU in New York, we listenned this song and find this lyrics was an addictional research.

    This is what i found:

"The hymn of British Movement - Cambridge Footlights Revue" (1982)

Come join us in the noblest of causes
    The battle for national improvement
The creaking of leather and uniforms
Is the hymn of our British movement

We promise you riches and prosperity
Employment for the British working man
We promise you holidays in America
On exchange with the Ku Klux Klan

Eliminate the Paki, exterminate the Blackie
Pull out this disease by the roots
A British Movement government would repatriate the immigrant
To the tramp of Union Jack boots

Children in football grounds and classrooms
Are paraded in tiny rank and file
    Incited to multi-racial aggro
Exalted by the war cry "Zeig Heil" ("Zeig Heil!")

Imagine a society with skinheads roaming wild and free
And not a pair of thick lips in sight
Fumigate the Underground and sterilize the cricket grounds

    White coat and white elephant
    Whitewash and White Christmas
White horse and white rich and white poor
    White dirt and white licorice
    White helmets, white truncheons
White face and white willy, white law (poor)

    Bye!!
