Default When I was a young boy

Hello, I'm looking for a song where the first sentence is "When I was a young boy".

It is a song from the late 70's early 80's. Kind of soft rock I guess.

When the first sentence is song it is kind of upbeat and a bit faster then the following sentences which of course I can't remember and is absolutely driving me nuts.

    Pls help.

    Thank you,

    Wade

I'm pretty sure from your description it is "Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance, even though it is not that old.

Kinda late, but anyhow, I've been looking for this song for a very long time too, but found it finally..

Think the song you're looking for is: Muddy Waters - Manish Boy

Could also be 'Believe in me' by Duff McKagan, probably we'll never know since the OP haven't responded to all the replies.

The song is: (I'd Go The) Whole Wide World" by Wreckless Eric from 1974. It was on the soundtrack of the movies That Summer (1979), Me Without You (2002), and Stranger Than Fiction (2006)
    It is on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d6iRjYy7mI

It appears we have several requests/searches embedded in this thread but I am glad it appears to have help someone.

However, as I think more about wadepen's original question, my guess would be Led Zeppelin's song, "Good Times, Bad Times".
"In the days of my youth
I was told what it means to be a man..."
Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title

I googled for the same lyric after hearing a song on the intro music to Pinball Arcade on steam. The song in question must be the 1969 song Pinball Wizard by The Who
