Wink Manos Chatzidakis for sure my dear....

I assume that you're talking about the famous "odos oneirwn" song of MANOS CHATZIDAKIS.....

There is only a compilation in greek discography that's called "oneiro pediwn tis geitonias", this is a compilation of Manos' songs and the last recording of the first Lp is the one we're talking about.

    So what's the story?
Back in 1962 there was a musical show in Athens. It was a major success. Manos Chatzidakis wrote the music which later recorded in studio and became a hit Lp.
The show was called "Odos oneiron".
So in it's originally version the "oneiro pediwn tis geitonias" was only a part of the first track of this Lp, which was a tetralogy called "prologue".

    "Prologue" was made of:
1)Oneiro pediwn ths geitonias (mainly instrumental but with the voice of Manos Chatzidakis introducing the whole work)
2)Odos oneirwn interpeted by George Marinos (in the show by Dimitri Chorn btw)
3)Nyxterinos choros instrumental part with a bouzouki solo by George Zabetas
4)Odos oneirwn once again the main song by George Marinos

    So If I've guessed right.......
    you're talking about this song
http://youtube.com/watch?v=38sqbDMvJmI this is not the original version of course

    and this translation

If btw you're referring to the words that Manos speaks out (and sertainly NOT singing) in the original "Oneiro pediwn ths geitonias" let me know....
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"
