Solved: The tears we cry

There was a Nokia ad around 2000 where a girl sung a song to the music she was listening to in her mobile. She sung something about "the tears we cry" and you could see the name of the song on the screen (it was one of the first mobiles to include a mp3 player). If my memory serves me well there was a band then who sang a song with that phrase (maybe it was the title, I can't tell) but she sung kind of differently to the band's version.

Any ideas? Thanx!

I don't really think it was Level 42, they were active in the 80's I think. I've tried the other band you suggest on youtube but there was no vid by that title or band and Wikipedia says this band was formed in 2002 so I think it's a bit too late. It still be worth to listen to their song though I may be wrong about the year but it feels like ages ago.

The ad was aired in Europe, not sure it was aired in Amercia too.

And it was definitely not Tom Jones, it was a band. It was a bit like Manic Street Preechers or something like that.

And it was definetely "tears we cry" maybe these or those instead of the, but I'm positive about that part of the sentence.

Huge in the 90's? I don't think so, at least not in Europe.

I haven't seen the Nokia ad but could this be the girls song? It was out around 1998.

I'm now editing my original post as now that I think of it, mobiles didn't include mp3 players before 2000 and something. It feels like 10 years ago but maybe it wasn't more than 6-7 years ago. So maybe The Dreaming's song could be the one, if only I could find it. Thanks so much again!

Well, not huge like say... Iron Maiden are huge and not as big as in the 80's but in England they drew some pretty big crows in the early-mid 90's

I just meant I don't remember any bit hits by them in the 90's, nor being normally aired on the radio (but their old hits from the 80's) in continental Europe but I'm sure they have a large number of fans in the UK. Wikipedia says they took a break in 1988 and disbanded in 1994 so I suppose their exposure was quite limited outside UK after 1988.

Any suggestions on any web site with old ads? I vaguely remember the phone display showed the song name, and hopefully the band's? Thank you all for your suggestions!
