Question Solved. late 70's "Down Under" sound alike

Now that Robby T identified a very obscure song for me. It triggered another memory. I wonder if lightning can strike twice. Robby I'm betting you know this one. It was during the same time period and same location. Holland 1978-81. It sounded like Down Under. I thought I had it in Down under. Yet now
    I think not.
Same basic tempo and all, the cadence is like the part of Play that Funky Music White boy. Right before the what I just typed.
you know " Yeah they were dancin, and singin, and movin to the groovin"
Something like that. and I believe sung by black men (possibly)
If I can dredge up some lyrics I will post them. But in the mean time If anyone can think of sound alikes let me know please.

My first thought was Boogie night by Heatwave ('76)

and as I was listening to that I remembered
    Earth Wind & Fire -Let's groove('81)

No no not them. I have them. Great stuff .
this song sounds like Down under. In fact if you were to play them side by side sans vocals, they would be mistaken for the other.
thats why I thought I had this tune.
    it's Not disco like.
More Island ish. Not even suer what nationality the singers are. I remember deep voices. But then again I was mistaken on the Dear John song .

I'm sorry, I don't know. By the way what do you mean with island-ish music, something like reggae? And what kind of musical instruments are playing in the song?

Musicismyfirstlove. Very very good! It's alot like that ,yes.
But don't think it is 'cause isn't this a 2006 song?
It has all the right elements.

RobbyT. I remember it sounding like Down Under. I'm vague on the instruments just that I think I remember the flute music from Down under.
with lyrics not unlike that 10cc song above.
As I said earlier. I tink if you were to play the music tracks alone, but side by side, they would appear to be if not the same piece. very similar.
    Just different lyrics and tempo.

Hmm I thought I nailed it there , it is from Bloody Tourists album ('78) so the time is right..

Hmmm, the only "Down under" song with a flute I remember, is "down under" from "Men at work", but that would be too easy I suppose.

I think you did nail it if that is a 1978 song.
It has all the right elements including a guy getting bullied. and as I said this is a resently unlocked 30 year old memory triggered by the Dear John Song
. It's just when I researched the song I kept coming up with 2006
release date. so I was unsure.

That's okay , after all it ís a long time ago..
And although the mind is a wonderful thing , it can also play tricks on you..

    Glad to know it's nailed!
